PACKED WITH FEATURES AND USEFUL
SO VERY PLEASED WITH THE UNIT. RECEPTION IS OK WITH THE TELESCOPING ANTENNA BUT THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED. BUT LISTENING AT NIGHT ITS GOOD BECAUSE OF THE BUILT IN FILTERS. ANTENNA GAIN, LOW PASS AND SOME OTHERS I AM STILL LEARNING; LONG STOTY SHORT I HAVE AN ADAPTOR COMING SO I CAN USR MY ML30 OUTDOOR ANTENNA THATS ON THE ROOF. I WILL WRITE AN UPDATED REVIEW THEN. BUT WITH ALL THE FEATURES AND FILTERS, ADJUSTMENTS IT IS FEATURE PACKED. THE PRICE LEAVES A LITTLE TO BE DESIRED BUT REMEMBER THIS HAS MORE FEATURES AND FILTERS THEN ANY OTHER RADIO AT THE PRICE. MORE THAN MY PL850 TECSUN. WILL BE BACK.

A full feature all band radio
Based on reading dozens of reviews and several extensive videos on this specific brand and other brands of the SAME radio, here is what I gleaned:This radio is not for the casual radio user due to its many features and controls. It fills the gap between the less than $100 multi-band, and the greater than $1,000 communications receivers. Examples of it's competition include the Grundig Satellit 750 and the Sangean ATS-909X both of which I own. There are a couple of features on this radio that are no better than that on a $50 radio, such as the complaints about the "soft muting" when scanning stations using the course outer ring tuner. Soft muting prevents hearing stations as you scan past them. For me, all the other features of this radio override that shortcoming. Several reviewers believe that future firmware updates could mitigate that downside. The jury is out and conflicted as to whether the latest firmware (not yet on radios being sold) solves this concern. And user firmware updates are advised only if you accept the chance of bricking the radio. I updated firmware on other devices successfully, but with the warnings attached to this update, I wouldn't do it. I would wait until the update is available from the factory. Here is what I like about this radio:* More complete frequency coverage than on most if not all radios at or below this price point, including CB (both AM and FM versions), weather, long wave, medium wave, ham bands, air, VHF and UHF.* Better sound quality than on most multi-band radios at or below this price point. But don't believe the hype on the description of audio - see negative comments, below.)* This particular brand comes with user replaceable batteries - a plus. The two other brands have batteries that are NOT user replaceable.* Remote control via iPhone or Android apps.* Multiple antenna options, plus antenna tuning* Multiple signal quality displays plus myriad of other info on the dual LED screens.* BT from phones to use as BT speaker* Good and selectable sensitivity.* I really like it's form factor. What I don't like about this radio and what I wish it had:* More easily updated, worry free firmware. As it stands, if you brick the radio updating firmware, you're on your own, i.e. "screwed". The warranty will not cover that issue, even if the firmware file is provided from the manufacturer.* A couple of the antenna switches observed by some appear to be loose-ish and undersized.* Its Bluetooth does not include transmitting to earphones/ear buds. An unfortunate omission.* The clock is only 24 hours; not settable to AM/PM time.* The thermometer reads only in Celsius. Fahrenheit is not an option. But I'm surprised it even has a thermometer.* I like knobs. I wish this had knobs for volume, bass, and treble instead of buttons for volume up/down and a button to toggle through fixed EQ options. But even the more expensive Grundig Satellit 750 has a known defect in its volume control (I had to replace mine) and its bass/treble knobs are nearly useless.* Advertising exaggerations about audio. The hype reads "... powered by 20W full-bodied stereo realized through a high-performance driver and a unique enhanced bass." Nope! The speaker's maximum power input is 20 watts. That is the ONLY 20 watt truth about this radio. One reviewer opened up the chassis and did a test which revealed less that 5 watts audio output. And the main amp is mono - aftercall, there is only a one channel speaker system. The headphone amp and output is likely stereo, but not sure. These exaggerations aside, the audio is claimed by reviewers to be better than in most multi-band radios at any price. All and all, this is a unique, full featured and worthy radio. None are perfect. But this one ticks off a lot of very nice-to-have features.
