Great addition to ecosystem
If you’re interested in air quality or - as I did - want to contribute to community weather data, this is a great addition to the Ecowitt ecosystem.

Be careful what you wish for...
Just brought an Ecowitt compatible weather station from Germany and saw this sensor at a good price. Figured it would give more interesting data than the lightening one that I was interested in.Popped in some batteries and the HP2550 console found it almost instantly. It sat inside for a couple of hours reading zero particles (good air quality) so I lit a candle in the same room. Sensor works! And candles are really, really, really bad for your air quality it seems. Air quality improved slowly over the next few hours and only really peaked cooking Christmas dinner.Thought it might be malfunctioning, but it seems candles, roast dinners and fried breakfasts cause the most air pollution inside according to a well know search engine. It's now outside and telling me that my seaside air is good except for New Year's Eve when the Air Quality changed to moderate after the firework display about 1 mile away.My only grip is that you can't set an alarm on the console to alert you like you can for other sensors. Hopefully a firmware upgrade will fix this. It does however upload the data to the Ecowitt website so you can track it over a period of time which really is how it should be used.

Works out of the box
Works right out of the box on USB power for me.The CO2 monitor levels off in fresh air at just under 400, so reads a little lower than it should, but given that the variation in the house is up to 1000 (and sometimes higher) this isn't a problem. The PM2.5 sensor is a lot more stable than Ecowitt's older models, showing they have put some effort into improving the design. The PM10 seems to work well too. Both detect the slightest increase, for example from use of the frying pan several rooms away.Others have said it's "noisy". I hate noise, am a very sensitive sleeper for example, and I have this device running right in front of me in my home office. I can barely hear it at night, and during the day it's negligible. I can only suggest they had a dodgy fan in theirs (it happens). Noise is not a problem for me at all.Watch out for vouchers and offers, they come and go on this device.

Great device & Easy to use
Once we powered the device up, was seen and logged into our controller without issue. First impressions are good, and the figures look to be accurate.

Easy extra for Ecowitt ecosystem
Quick delivery from the official EU ecowitt store on Amazon, price is close to ecowitt China price plus VAT and without the shipping delaysNote you need a console or gateway to access this device's outputWorked straight out of the box. Put in backup batteries plugged into a mobile phone adapter and it found my ecowitt network and data appeared on the WS View app immediatelyEcowitt kit is good qualityVery satisfied

Working fine
First unit I received was faulty, replacement working fine ,Update March 2023After 1 year in operation unit packed up . Just reads 0 or 999. New batteries fitted and sensor cleaned, still u/s . disappointed for what it cost me.

Way too noisy for indoor usage
This thing has a fan that starts at full speed every 30 seconds, for about 7 seconds. Very annoying in the living room; i would not even mention about putting this in a bedroom. Probably I'll put it on the balcony or return it. Too bad, that it is one of the very few PM2.5/PM10 sensors that can be integrated with Hubitat.

Good value
These are good value for money, the only downside is when the dewpoint is close to the outdoor temp, this item will then start reading too high, this is mention by Ecowitt, other than that, it does what it says.

A solid air quality sensor
I picked this up to add to my Ecowitt system and it's been working very well.I compare the WH45 with other monitoring sensors and it's very accurateIt was very easy to add to my existing system and has been trouble free since I installed it.My next goal is to integrate it with my smart home system so I can have it run specific routines based on CO2 levels, etc.I've tried cheaper devices in the past and the old saying, you get what you pay for, always came in to play. I paid a little more for the WH45 but it's accurate so I don't mind.

Appears to be consistent with other PM sensors I use (Temtop, Airthings)
This PM 2.5 sensor works well. Outdoor unit charges via included solar panel. Has weathered rain fine so far. Sensor appears to be accurate relative to other sensors I own and use as well as national and regional data sources. Indoor Temperature and humidity readings are also consistent with other gauges I use. Recommend.

Works well
The AA batteries only last a few days so you must use a USB power supply to power the unit. It does come with the USB cable, but not the power supply. The CO2 and particle readings show up on my Ecowitt display, but the text is quite small and not easy to read with my old eyes. You can also set up an iOS app or android app to see the readings which are recorded on the Ecowitt web page. It looks solidly built. Price is on the high side compared to other options available. Very well integrated with the Ecowitt weather station console (HP2552BU). It picked up the wireless signal from this unit right away with no user input required. Very useful for monitoring CO2 and particle levels in the home.

stupide
