This makes it harder for him to break out and scrunch the fabric by his face (as happened with other swaddles as he tried to bring his hands to his mouth). He is just now, around 4 months, getting a little too long for it, to where he can scrunch it with his arms. Leaving his arms at his aides also stops him from trying to roll, which was possible in some others (note: babies who can roll over should not be swaddles; my son rolled from back to side the day we came home from the hospital and was closely monitored which sleeping). I appreciate that while it ends up putting several layers around baby, it is lightweight, breathable cotton. On hot nights, I only used a short sleeve onesie underneath to prevent overheating. I wish there was a way to secure the end piece of fabric as it always scared me a little to have a loose piece hanging around, but it never got near his face. There is definitely a learning curve in trying to get it positioned and tightened perfectly for your baby. We wrapped it slightly differently at different times based on his needs (e.g wrapping it higher or lower, leaving his legs out, etc.). I recommend these to everyone I know! My daughter would only sleep in 2 hour chunks. When she turned 9 weeks old, I went in search of a larger swaddling blanket. My friend recommended the Miracle Blanket and since that day, it has been sweet dreams in my house! I documented her progress over the first week of using the miracle blanket. Here are my findings: Night 1: 6 hours 41 minutes Night 2: 8 hours Night 3: 7 hours 45 minutes Night 4: 2, 4 hour blocks (but this is because I knocked over some bottles in the recycling bin and woke her up at 4am....don't ask...... she was re-swaddled and passed out in no time) Night 5: 9 hours! Night 6: 8 hours, 31 minutes Night 7: 8 hours, 41 minutes My daughter is very tall. She was 20 1/2 inches at birth. When she started to outgrow the MB, I adjusted the blanket so that her shoulders would poke out of the top in order to provide more room for her feet at the bottom. The blanket also proved to be a success for naps! I was afraid that she would become to dependant on the MB, but I decided to press my luck and I continued to use the MB for as long as she would allow it. If you are reading this, you are probably sleep deprived and will understand! She started to wiggle out of the blanket and inch around her crib at night when she was 3 1/2 months old. This was her sign that she was ready to move on. I was completely amazed that she was able to maintain her awesome sleeping habit without the MB! She is now 4 1/2 months old, and she still sleeps an average of 9 hours a night. Her naps aren't as lengthy, but I can handle anything with a good night's sleep. I feel that the Miracle Blanket helped to establish excellent sleep habits for my daughter. However, it does not work for all babies. This blanket is not an easy fix for everyone.
