AltraMen's Lone Peak 8

Great zero-drop trail runners
My first experience with Altra but they are just what I was hoping for and comfortable right away. My feet are medium-wide but the standard fit was fine in my normal size, with a generous conventional lacing system and a wide toe box. The grip is excellent and gives me some confidence on muddy paths. When I took up running I went for zero heel drop shoes because the "barefoot" style was all the rage then. Honestly, the number of times people tell me I should be careful with my knees, or they used to run but it hurt their knees, or they know someone who used to do a lot of running and now has bad knees... well you get the idea. That and "are you training for a marathon"? No, I'm not!13 years on, I'm still running 10 to 15km a week, and my knees are fine thank you, so maybe there is something to this running style. It could be due to less shock travelling up from the heel. You certainly develop strong, springy calf muscles so perhaps that's the reason. It's also nice to be able to bound upstairs two steps at a time in my 60s, LOL.

Perfect fit
I tried all the other Altra foot shape shoes.I thought why not, I’ll give these a blast.Well, they’re perfect.Gone to 11.5 from 11 and there has never been a comfier shoe on my feet.Well, vibram fivefingers perhaps. But for a “normal” shoe they’re amazing.

outsole improvements but a little bit long
I'm a long time lone peak runner. I think I've gone through seven or more pairs of the lone peak 6 (I skipped the 7 when I read it wasnt as wide). Finally moved onto the 8 and I have to say that the lugs on the outsole are significantly more aggressive than the 6. I feel much more confident on wet grassy hills and mud than I did before. On the other hand, the outsole feels a bit harder on road surfaces making and the fit seems a bit off to me. I normally wear a 9.5 altra but I will probably go down to a 9 next time I buy these because the 8's feel like they run a bit longer than the previous versions of this shoe. The only other issue I've experienced is that unlike the 6s, the lone peak 8s seem to get a lot more dirt, pebbles, and other bits in them. I cant remember ever having to stop on a run to get grit out of my shoe with the 6s but I seem to doing this pretty frequently in the 8s.

Super comfy.
Great for walking, not just trail running. Good price for a quality product.

Poor quality shoes.
I've been using Altra's for a couple years now, these were really comfy shoes, however I've only had these 2 months, and they've already ripped open at the sides and my toes hang out when I put them on.Very, very disappointed

Super comfy, am I wearing shoes?
Tried these for trail walking with the dogs and they're now my go to shoe. Super comfortable, the wide round toe box and zero drop sole are so natural. Good grip on the soles, just need to learn how to tighten the laces to get them 'just right'; tight enough not to be loose but not so tight I get lace bite.I waterproofed mine with a liquid spray and rain just runs off them. Stepping in puddles still gets my toes wet though, water enters between the sole and uppers. But they weren't advertised as waterproof so I'm happy.

It's a Lone Peak
A neutral-colored Lone Peak. What's not to like?

Great fit!
I have a strange for profile - short and wide - and for that reason, I usually have to buy shoes 0.5~1 size up for width, even when I buy “wide shoes”. That creates a different problem which is I have a huge open space in front of my toes in the shoes. I recently learned there are shoes with a wider “toe box” and there is a difference between wide shoes and shoes with a wide toe box. Also, I had been curious about zero drop shoes. I do not wear shoes inside my house and that feels great and I wanted to try shoes with a zero drop as well.I wanted to have some cushion on the sole but not much so that I can stay closer to the ground without wobbly feeling. After some research on the internet and YT, I decided to try this brand and pair. This pair has a 25mm stack height which is pretty thin yet not to thick, and no drop. I dropped the length by 0.5 size and these fit perfectly. The heel and mid section are rightly snag and the toe section/ box is wide open. I can now spread my toe fingers without any restriction. As I walk around with the shoes on, it feels like I am walking barefooted with some light cushion and I love that feeling. The sole is pretty grippy. I am not sure about longevity yet as I have put only 5 miles on them. I am a bit concerned about the laminated toe protection on the shoes as it is pretty thin. I bet it could be damaged when I hit rocks or something hard. I will report back later when I have a lot more miles.I am going to buy a pair of training/ road running shoes from this brand so that I will have a consistency with my shoes collection.

calidad-precio
Estas zapatillas son lo mejor que he encontrado para una transición del calzado convencional al barefoot, los he probado corriendo por la montaña y comodisimos ya que tiene la puntera ancha y un minimo de amortiguación.
