Ordered this crimper for JST connectors. I have another 18-28AWG ratchet crimper that works OK but in theory the parallel jaw movement on this tool makes crimps that are stronger and more consistent.That's the theory. In practice, it's a lot harder than it looks. First, you need to figure out which slot to use as there are no markings. Once you get the terminal in the right slot, the terminal has a tendency to rotate while crimping because the crimper applies pressure to the narrow back of the terminal and there's really nothing to hold it straight. If you manage to keep it straight, if you haven't inserted it just so you have a pretty good chance of crushing part of the business end. In short, it takes a lot of practice, but if you manage to get it just right this tool is indeed capable of making a very good crimp.It's good for hobby use but I'd get the purpose built tool if I needed to do a lot of JST crimps.

It feels solid, works as advertised and gives nice crimp connections.

For anything Molex, this is the best crimper out there. No instructions, so I was using it completely wrong at first and hated it. But then I noticed that the dies have two stages- this thing crimps both the conductor AND the insulator at the same time! And once you use it correctly it makes a crimp as good as factory.There's a certain satisfaction in owning a well-made tool that does its job well, and this crimper meets that description.
