The amount of powder that comes out of the tiny holes is just right for me, but if you want less powder remove only 1/2 of the protective cover when you open it. I read a review that said it was too much powder so I removed only 1/2 and after a few days removed the rest of the cover as I wanted more fragrant powder. 3 ounces doesn't sound like very much but it's an ample amount for a specialty fragrance.
