GATERON Melodic Keyboard Switches, Clicky RGB LED 5 Pin Factory Pre-lubed 60gf Key Switches for MX Mechanical Keyboard(35PCS)

I have plenty of keyboards and plenty of switches. At the end of the day, baby kangaroos are the best alternative to MX browns and gateron melodics are the best alternative to MX blues. Pair these switches with a good base, e.g. Epomaker Galaxy70 (black only) and typing becomes a real experience.

I vaguely remember liking clicky switches in the 90s when I was a kid and learning to type, however, my first foray into them as an adult was Cherry blue and I disliked those so much that I've only used tactiles since. Lately I've rotated through Baby Kangeroo 2.0, Durock Sunflower, Boba U4T, Holy Pand, and Kailh Navy switches in my daily driver and while I like quite a few of them, they still felt short of what I'd consider an ideal switch. Tried these out on a whim and realized my ideal tactile switch is clicky. I only care about how a switch feels and I'm not versed in the underlying mechanics separating linear, clicky, tactile, etc, so this may or may not make sense, but these feel more tactile than any tactile switch I've used. Most crisp, satisfying bump out of any switch I've tried as well as one of the least offense click sound of any clicky switch I've used. These feel very similar to Kailh Navy and the only noticeable difference is slightly less heavy feeling and less pronounced double click. tl;dr these Melodics are terrific and closest I've come to finding my ideal "tactile" switch. Especially at the current cost per switch (~$0.69), I'd recommend them for anyone who likes tactiles but wants something more. I'm not an rgb guy, but these housings let light through if that's your bag. This is my second or third Gateron switch and the QA / presentation is always on point- no bent pins or defects. 9/10

Gateron has quickly become my favorite switch manufacturer. The Melodic is no different. Excellent quality. The feel is like popping paper. A quick medium sharp bump and then a great release. It's really fun to type on!

This review isn’t on the product itself but more on the pricing and quantity given. Good switches, terrible value These are genuine switches and the quality is exactly what you’d expect from the official brand no complaints there. The problem is the pricing and quantity. You only get 45 switches for ~$35, which doesn’t even cover a standard 60% keyboard (needs 60+), let alone anything larger. That means you’re forced to buy multiple packs, which quickly becomes unreasonable. What makes this worse is that other retailers sell the exact same switches from the same brand in 90-packs for $80–$90, which is a far better value per switch. Even some non-official Amazon listings offer more competitive bundles. If you’re just replacing a few switches, this might be fine. But for any full keyboard build, this listing is massively overpriced and poorly packaged quantity-wise. Good product, bad value. Would not recommend for full builds
