Stanley National Hardware CD1496 Gate Latch

I've had the ordinary garden latches before, but where my gate is the wind can catch it and throw it shut. Those ordinary latches with their flat mild steel don't stand a chance. This one is much more solid and as the centre plate wraps around the gate post I think the post would fall over before it breaks.I've got mine on a wooden gate and post, so it's a pity about the colour. I'd have preferred black, or even better, galvanised.

I found I could not use normal latches that can be bought in local hardware stores, and after searching widely located this. It is fantastic, much better manufactured than the cheap alternatives available locally. My only reservation is that the descriptions I found did not say clearly enough how it was fitted, so I had to take a gamble that it would do the job, thank goodness I did. I woujld have preferred it in black, but you cannot have everything.

An ideal alternative gate fastening where the ability to open the gate from both sides is needed. Well made from aluminium. A galvernised steel version were it available would be better.

I choose 5 star rating,because it is a really clever idea. With a spring fitted to the gate,it always closes after anybody uses gate. The person who invented this product should get an award.

Really good quality and design, easy to fit and supplied with all fixings, and should last years. Highly Recommended, works like a dream.

Excellent Latch, fitting can be used left or right handed, very pleased with it.
