Great radio that outputs a clean Tx at the advertised 10 watts
(Not waterproof/weatherproof) A great radio-ham hand held radio that outputs a clean Tx at the advertised 10 watts. Works while on charge too. The USBC charge-lead goes into the battery not the radio so the radio is always available for a fully charged battery while the 'flat' battery is on charge elsewhere. This is a great radio for the price. I use case B08P8NCL1G for mine (I have two of these radios, different colours!).

Comparison between 2 similar units
Unit 1:The Tidradio mentions offline programming then segways into the app which requires an active Internet connection (see pic) which I won't be using.Ammendment: i have been playing with it abit more over 2 days, The supplier contacted me and mentioned that the app didn't require a log in so I gave it a go. After playing about with the app for about 30 minutes its not too bad does exactly what ya would expect and is a bit easier to set up multiple frequencies in bulk then upload them.Sound quality is good and the range and is about as good as any other small radio and I like the addition of the FM Radio function its a nice touch that and the transparent shell.Summery 1: If ya want fancy, cool looking tech, with an inbuilt FM radio this one is for you ^_^Unit 2:I have the BAOFENG which does the same job without the fancy online bluetooth programming which in my opinion is built abit more solid (yes, I may have dropped it a few times).Summery 2: if want basic and ya don't want or find the Bluetooth setup or FM radio, id recommend the BAOFENG its alot cheaper and more of a solid build.

An almost perfect radio with one design flaw
This radio is ALMOST perfect. It's built like a stone toilet, can reach repeaters my Baofeng UV-5R can't from the same distance, it's got USBC-C charging and the screen is crisp, and can display both the name of your saved frequency as well as the frequency itself. My existing CHIRP programming cable was compatible which meant my entire list of saved channels could be migrated across within minutes. The microphone gain can be altered which is a feature sorely missing from my UV-5R, and the radio has a green breathing LED which can be set to pulse at a timing of your choosing to make sure you remember the radio you left scanning is still active.I love everything about it. It's perfect. Almost perfect.HOWEVEROn the 2m band, when the screen is on, 145.6MHz experiences interference that goes away as soon as the screen turns off. So far I've been able to work around this by turning the screen timeout as low as it will go (5 seconds) and if I detect a signal, turn squelch to 0 and wait for the screen to turn off. Unfortunately when you transmit, or when a new signal is heard, the screen turns on.The screen leaks radio emissions and it seems like this affects all units (since I found a YouTube video experiencing exactly the same issue that remedies it by taking the radio apart and putting a wire mesh over the front of the LCD but I don't fancy doing that!).I've made successful calls on the 2m band despite this issue, but if the signal is weak and it's near 145.6MHz, you likely won't be able to listen without the interference getting in the way. If you use an external antenna this problem is circumvented.70cm isn't affected by this issue.

Ireland Customers - Beware..
Initially, the radio was pretty good, 10 watts, Blue tooth and ODmaster software.. It stopped recieving on VHF within a few weeks.. The option to return it for refund, Amazon UK, did not work very well. From Ireland, The Post Office or DPD, will not carry the battery - DHL may carry it? but charge €50 .. as much as the cost of the radio or indeed the refund available on return.. Cheapest option... put it in the bin.. I am taking a chance and ordered one directly from TIDradio.. 24 hours later, I got a tracking number and it is airfreight from China.. See how that goes !!

Very nice radio
Having held a amateur radio license for 40 years with the previous cost of handheld radios being very very high, I'm impressed with these Chinese radios in particular this model. Very good value looks well-made it will get used a lot great product.
