Kalthoum

I saw Ibrahim Maalouf at the Cartagena Jazz Festival last year (November 2015) where he played this music so wanted to get the CD. It has not disappointed, I know the music of Om-Kalthoum as world music and jazz feature equally large in my musical life and this homage to her captures the flavour and detail of her music. I cannot recommend this enough, one of the finest albums I have ever bought and if you get the opportunity to see him live, grab it especially if he is playing this.

An interesting album - I would have preferred more of the African/Eastern rhythms to come through

Saw him live a few years back, playing this stuff live. What a guy, and what a group of musicians he keeps around him. Top quality stuff.
