The one that got away
I remember the Fred west case clearly as I lived local to all this and went to school with the last victim brought out, Carol Ann Cooper. Whilst I was aware off Caroline, I had not read her story and I found it terrifying and some measure of what the girls underground must have suffered. I found this book to be very well written and honest to a fault. We are all totally different as adults to what we would have been as teenagers and nobody should be criticised for this behaviour once they mature. In some ways Caroline was selfish and greedy but as far as money was concerned I'm confident that a lot of people made a lot more money than her. Above all, Caroline was honest about her shortcomings and we all have them.My life has followed a similar path to Carolines and I'd love the opportunity to talk to her as we are very alike. Well done Caroline and Stephen. An excellent book x

A lucky lady
I've read many books on Fred and Rose West, this book doesn't bring anything new and much of Caroline's experiences with the Wests are used by other authors in their books.but on a personal level Caroline's story shows how being deprived of a father can lead to a girl looking for love in all the wrong places throughout their life. Caroline is indeed a very lucky lady to have survived the Wests and I hope she is happy in her life and no longer feels the guilt she mentions in the book. I thought the book should have ended with Rose Wests trial and conviction and switched off when Caroline wrote about finding spiritualism and how she'd been guided in looking for other victims yet to be found.

Ended up as advert for spiritualism
I generally enjoyed the bulk of this book until the author go involved in a spiritualist church then it felt like the author had become a bit of an evangelist for spiritualism. The book ended with rather unconvincing anecdotal stories that are supposed to convince us that her personal psychics are the real deal. Sorry but as someone interested in the skeptical movement there are too many natural explanations for apparent psychics who talk to the dead and personal memories of what were said are notoriously unreliable. A reasonable book that I felt was let down at the end by her preaching.

Gripping
Interesting read from a survivors point of view. Thankful that she got away from the clutches of the Wests & lived to tell the tale of the horrors they subjected her to.

Caroline Roberts autobiography.
This book is much more about caroline's life, rather than adding any new information about the West's.

this is an insight to a troubled girl, tough to read at times but she has the courage and strength to reverse her feelings to create this book and turn her life around.

Good reasd, explained few things. Also explained a few things from my past.
Great book, not for the squeamish or closed mind. A sad tale, especially to those that died and my never be found
