I wrote a review about the cards already but you should buy this book if you by the oracle cards. But if you just want an introduction to different goddess to do further research this is a good book to start with. It will help you get to know goddess’s outside of the most popular ones and the drawings are beautiful.

This book is a treasure trove of wisdom. As a history enthusiast, I was drawn to the legendary goddesses, and this book did not disappoint. It's like having profound conversations with ancient deities. Their stories inspire. A must-read for anyone seeking inspiration and connection with powerful feminine energy!

I bought this originally out of spite of all these Karens complaining that they thought this was a children’s book. It’s not marketed as such, but I’ll say this - the history of these tales has been so whitewashed and disney-fied that people seem to forget the gruesome details. Perhaps you should have been prepared for the actual historical account to be even partially represented. Some of it isn’t pretty. Deal with it.Don’t expect authors or artists or anyone else to cater to your spawn. Monitor them yourself.All that aside, this is a wonderful book with interesting and artistic illustrations and great storytelling. Well done.

This book is beautifully illustrated and wonderfully detailed. The descriptions are great. Diverse range of goddesses. My ONLY gripe is the inclusion (in a few entries) of some traumatic things(sexual assault in an instance or two). It is not graphic--and I get that the author is staying true to myth here. But I wish I'd had a warning. I was reading it through with my 7yo and luckily I am quick on my toes and caught the next sentence without saying what had happened to the Goddess of the page. I'd just suggest reading it first so you know what to look out for. I still love the book and I'd buy it again many times over. Truly inspirational.

Lovely book, full of powerful women. Disappointed that Athena was represented, but not Medusa. Also, I am not sure why this book comes up when searching for books for children. Some themes are definitely not child friendly. For example, when describing Freya's amber necklace the book says "She loved the beautiful necklace the moment she set eyes on it, and the four dwarfs asked that she pay for it by sleeping with each of them- beauty for beauty." which COMPLETELY caught me off-guard when reading to my 9&6 year olds. We are very open with our kiddos, but that was a bit much. It prompted a conversation about sexual assault/favors, how just because someone is beautiful doesn't mean that you are entitled to their body, etc.. and we haven't picked it up since, as I feel I have to read it entirely myself before deciding whether or not I share the rest of the book with them.

I bought this book to read with my 8 year old daughter but my 7 year old son ended up loving the stories even more. Our family is very open so I didn't have issues explaining some of the more adult concepts. However, if you have child who is sensitive or are sensitive to more 'adult topics' yourself that are presented here (as they are a part of the mythology used), I would avoid this book. It does have adult themes; if you've ever read mythology then you would know ahead of time.Great way to introduce younger ones to mythology through easy to digest, short stories with beautiful illustrations.

I originally saw this book at a renaissance festival but opted out of buying it because it was so expensive. Several months later i find it again on here and at a much much better price! When i ordered it i had it set for march (i picked the option where you dont care when it gets shipped) and ended up getting only a day or two later c: this book is great. The illustrations are really nice and the information is not only accurate(usually books like this arent in my experience), but very interesting too!
