absolutely excellent knife for the money!
im quite pleased with this purchase. i'm an absolute beginner at whittling, and i was willing to settle for a lower quality knife to save money in a hobby i didn't even know if i'd like, but this is a really nice knife. of course, as a beginner, i can't compare it to the nicer knives available, but im happy with it. it's quite sharp right out of the box, and i've been stropping it maybe every 15-40 minutes of use or so and it's kept a great edge. fits quite comfortable in the hand, and easy to use. i like the shape of the handle and the blade is pretty versatile, which is good for a beginner on a budget. ive managed to easily strip bark, make big cuts, and do tiny detail work with it. ive also managed to slip and cut myself, but that's just a bit of user error. maybe add a pair of cut proof gloves to your cart before you check out on this one 👌🏼 in the images with this review you can see the small details i've managed with this knife, including managing to carve out the eye of some yarn needles with the point of it!

Super sharp!
People such as myself should not play with knives & wood. But, alas, I lack common sense. I have dabbled in the art of whittling off & on all my life. I have the scars to prove it. So, one day, I woke up & decided to get at it again. I ordered some little wooden squares, & this knife, with the intention of making rings for my husband & I. I’ve been quite happy with the work this knife can perform. It knicked off the edges of the squares & shaped them very quickly, & nicely! So far, Im very impressed with the sharpness & durability. I’m not even mad it tried to take the skin off my pinky. I’m kind of impressed with how easily & painlessly it happened (the pain came later…) This bad boy made me realize my family was correct in their naggings at me to buy cut proof gloves specifically for my freakishly small hands. This was just a knife to get me started again, & to see if I like it. I’ll be buying the others soon.

Nice handle & set.
Not razor sharp but adequate. I like the way it feels in my hand and I think it will be fine for my carving needs on soft wood.

A great starter knife (and strop). Hardened steel FTW!
A great starter knife (and strop) that I still use it when I can't find my Mora or other sloyds. I'd been using a small fine Buck knife to whittle, but this changed everything. It's so much easier to cut through wood of all kinds with hardened steel! This is the only strop I have, and I use it for axes and drawknives too. CON: No sheath means you have to buy/make one yourself because this will poke holes in you.

if you're just starting out like me, grab this.
Just getting into wood carving and this is exactly what I needed to learn without spending a fortune. Why it's great for beginners: Sharp right out of the box, cuts soft woods easily Comfortable grip, easy to control Cheap enough that I'm not scared to actually use it and make mistakes Good for learning basic techniques Minor downsides: Needs sharpening more often than pro knives Not great for harder woods Honestly if you're just starting out like me, grab this.

Looks good out of the box, needed to be stropped., nice handle
Too soon to tell. Only had it one day. Looks fine , good quality, nice pack, not very sharp. After full day of carving I’ll know better. So far it’s fine! Now after a solid several hours working on a basswood pit bull dog carving, I had the opportunity to use this knife along with my other solid knives. Unfortunately it is my least favorite. Not as good with thin cuts. The hollow grind is shallow and leaves the blade thick in the cutting area. Does not compare to two other similar size and shaped Sloid knives I regularly use, that were same price to buy. Probably ok for a beginner
