A rice sized amount? Pea sized?** A: I tap my brush in it until the top of the bristles are coated. If I had to guess, not quite pea sized. You should be leary. Our product is between a 7-10 RDA. We have about 15% of our formula that is baking soda which is 7 in RDA. IT's not what people actually think as far as abrasivity goes. The salt in our product is not table salt, it's two forms of naturally occurring salt that has not been processed. IT's crystalline in structure and we mill this salt into a BELOW 30 micron level, which is the consistency of baking flour. Unlike baking soda, the salt part of the product melts within about 8 seconds. It allows for soft abrasion, along with the baking soda. There are no other ingredients that have an abrasion factor. So you should have absolute confidence that you are using one of the lowest RDA products on the market, for helping to improve sensitivity (with regular use), that will not further any worn enamel spots you may have on your teeth already. And just for fun and education, here is an example of the real RDA issue revolving many commercialized paste. Brushing with just water and a tooth brush is around a 4. Many Sensodyne products are in the 80-100 range. Whitening toothpastes that say WHITENING on them as a main benefit are in the 100-250 range!!! 0-70 is considered very low RDA. 71-100 is Medium. 101-150 is HIGH and over 150+is regarded as HARMFUL. Whiten your teeth naturally with our products, by just going to the front of your teeth at first to get that soft abrasion and then work the powder into the other parts of your teeth and gum. It's a healthy alternative, that WILL remove stains naturally and effectively, while helping remineralize your teeth! And use a soft toothbrush! That's key also. The ingredients in the commercial pastes that cause this is usually silica, hydrogen peroxide (which leaves microscopic scratches on the top layer of dentin (clear enamel part) and even some of the SLS (foaming agents). This information is studied in caries research (the body of work dedicated to ingredient research and effectiveness).
