They're not super thick but we live in the south and it doesn't get too cold here. My kids ages 14, 9, and 7 use these when we are out at our property riding their 4 wheeles and dirt bikes. They put them on their necks and over their mouth and then put helmets on. I think it's definitely served it's purpose. Fabric is very soft, like my new jersey fabric cuddleduds, and strechy, does not feel tight around my head or neck. Might be snug on someone with a large neck but for me 5'4, 130lbs it was just right. Also perfect to use as headband and would stay put unless very strenous excersise.
