Lives up to its name.
I am really pleased with the hay feeder. I have 2 for 3 horses and they understand how the feeder works, after the initial 'what's that scary monster in our field!' . I put some loose hay on the sides and on the top of the grid, but they soon realised what to do. Very happy with the product overall.

Itโs big!
This is a great product but it is BIG so check dimensions for a stable (although because itโs oblong, it fits in a corner). My wuss of a horse wouldnโt go near it for 24 hours, but now eats happily from it. It keeps the stable tidy, stops hay getting dragged around into the bedding and slows down guzzlers.

Cumbersome
The lid is tricky to remove as it gets stuck and the inner piece with the holes in it doesnโt go down anywhere near the bottom so lots of hay is unreachable. A poor design.

Don't like it
So hard to get the lid off. Wish I had not spent so much money on something I hate. Should be on tiny legs and have holes in the bottom. When it rains it fills with water.

Robust and easy to use
This feeder really does slow the horses down and is very robust. I've had my Hay Saver in use since December last year in an open sided shed in lots of minus temperatures and the plastic shows no signs of becoming brittle and it hasn't blown away despite some pretty strong gales. With other slow feeders I've had the metal grids break and injure the horses and they are usually demolished in a few weeks by ponies that eat wood. It's withstood quite a few play sessions from young cobs who delight in kicking it round the shed at times, surviving with just a few minor scratches. Now they know that doing that doesn't make it produce more hay they don't bother with it. It's easy to fill once you've lifted the lid/lip section, we put a drain plug in it and use it for soaking the hay as well as feeding it. My only criticism is the four rubber bands that hold the lid on. They are fiddly, pinged off right from day one and broke in under a week. We now use breakable twine to hold the back on and are trying different ways of holding the front section down. The grid can't be easily removed unless you lift the lid which is great for preventing the ponies doing that and then eating the hay too fast but not so great when it comes to filling it. This is the only reason it's a four not a five star review.

Innovative idea and a good buy
Very robust, safe and easy to use. Keeps hay contained so doesn't get trampled in the ground. Hardly any wastage and love that I can easily move it around the field. Elastic band no good so I use baling twine instead. Will be buying another one soon as really like this.

Great purchase
Has worked very well in our field, even during storms (with a couple of bricks placed inside).
