They work as long as there’s not spiderwebs in the entrance
Use alongside the spray treatment and you will notice a big improvement in the hedge quality. Just keep checking for spidered webs at the entrance as the moths won’t enter the trap if there’s a web there.

Excellent box tree moth trap
I've a box tree suffering from box tree caterpillar and moth each year. Although I spray regularly, I thought I'd try one of these traps. After nothing happening for a week or so, suddenly moths started appearing. So effective I bought another. The first must have trapped at least a score of the critters. If they're in the trap, they're not eating the tree so very pleased.

It does work
Update 6th July - It works after all. 4 box tree caterpillar moths caught in June. That's got to help.So far it has only managed to catch half a dozen small flies! I put it upon mid-March, but no sign of any moths. I have, however, spent a very un-enjoyable 4 days hand-picking 2,500+ caterpillars off of my box bushes and hedges! Maybe they were last seasons eggs and there have been no moths produced yet? I've put a new batch of pheromone in. Let's see if any moths get caught in the next 3 months.BTW - I can thoroughly recommend XenTari spray to kill the caterpillars. After 1 day, they are a bit dopey. After 2 days they are either dead of clearly unwell. After 3 days, all perished!

Does the job
Whilst I am aware we can't eradicate the box moth, this trap is certainly doing its job. Worth getting neighbours with box to invest too.I was concerned when the white blob appeared to disappear and got in touch with the manufacturer. They assure me that's just the "goo" to stick the pheromone in. And I realised there's a sticky pad left inside. Moths are still being caught, so it's still effective.I had sprayed the hedges thoroughly twice, a fortnight apart with a spray from the garden centre. This, and a bit of caterpillar "squishing", appears to have done the trick and new growth is coming in quite rapidly it's August now). Other neighbours lost theirs as they didn't spot the caterpillars early enough. There is hope!!

Box tree trap that doesn’t trap
So disappointed with this trap. Although I’ve awarded it 1 star I don’t think it deserves any. Started using it in April and so far not one single moth has been trapped although many have been seen flying nearby. In desperation I put out another trap from last year with an out of date lure, which caught more than a dozen! It doesn’t do what it says on the box. So not worth the money I paid.

Working brilliantly!
Within 2 days has captured loads of box moths. Really easy to set up and well worth the money.

Moth killer!
This works all of these would have been new box tree killer caterpillars. It’s been in situ for 4 months hanging in a tree surrounded by box plants. Just changed out the pheromones to the second lot supplied. Will see how it fairs November+

Works well and time will tell
Bought two of these. Pretty easy to assemble and use. They certainly do attract and trap the moths but only time will tell whether that is enough to help save our box bushes. Will may still need to prune some point to remove badly affected parts but after some time the bushes are now recovering with new growth.. We had loads of sparrows eating the caterpillars, otherwise there would have been far more moths, plus this disproves the statement on the internet that there are no natural predators for these insects. Seems to work but expensive for what it is.
