Every proofreader needs this manual

This has become my go-to book for writing. "The Chicago Manual Style" is the industry standard for all publications from magazines, online articles, and works of fiction in America. If you have a professional editor editing your manuscript, then they are probably using this book. This book stays on top of my writing desk as it sits beside my PC keyboard. It covers grammar, citations, manuscript formatting, and much much more. It should be noted that the Associated Press uses their own hand book, and universities rely on the A.P.A. and the M.L.A. handbooks for proper citation and bibliographies. Make sure that you are using the right source for your field.

The CMS is essential for any author

Business Writing, Marketing and PR Writing, Evidence based writing, Professional composition are included in this book. As a former English Lit major (switched to Econ), this book helped me understand the fundamentals of general writing, and creative expression. If you want to further improve your composition then please consider buying this book. Yes, it's pricey, and yes, you're likely to hurt your wallet but at the cost of getting a higher understanding.

Very comprehensive

The 18th edition includes some major editorial changes and adds sections for digital citations that are important. After 17 editions, one might wonder if a purchase is worth it. But with CMS increasingly being the industry standard, the 18th is definitely a must-have for editors and writers.

書籍自体に問題は無し。★5つです。但し配送に問題あり。それなりに高価な品なので置き配指示をせず直接受け取り指示をしたのだが、玄関前に置き配されていた。しかもサイトの配送状況には住人に直接手渡ししたとウソまで書かれていた。

An updated, expanded, invaluable tool for authors, editors, proofreaders, and word nerds of any stripe. If you work with the written word in any way, I highly recommend securing your own copy of the 18th Edition of CMOS. My favorite element: The writers unapologetically incorporate the reality of the evolution of the English language. This is far from a "dusty, old tome" that is out of touch with today's readers while still providing solid guidelines to get your point across clearly.

Very informative and useful to complete my course. However, very large and heavy for a book.

Nice big new edition! Has everything you need for writing in the Chicago style. I got paperback because it's easy to flip the pages quickly looking for the page number you need.
