This fire blanket was a bit more difficult to deploy than it lets on - it says to pull the straps, but really you should pull the straps after undoing the velcro at the bottom.Even once you do, I feel like this is overall less useful than a fire extinguisher. Yes, it's less mess, but it takes 20-30 minutes to finally put out the fire underneath, during which time it's still spewing smoke through the blanket. It also needs to be disposed after use, so it's not like it's reusable. Plus, the fact that it's made using powerglass means that it is hazardous in and of itself.I suppose as a stopgap measure until you can get a fire extinguisher, this might be useful, but between the two, I would go with the extinguisher every time.

I ordered this Emergency Fire Blanket to keep in our kitchen. It arrived today and I was excited to have received it. Upon unpacking it, I was impressed with what I saw! Unfortunately, for this review, I can not report that I used it as I am not going to start a fire to test it. I wanted to have one in our kitchen for that unforeseen emergency and appreciate the piece of mind in having it ready for an emergency. My impression is that it is a quality fire blanket and am hoping it will work well should the need arise. I am also impressed that it came in a 2-pack and felt it was very economically priced as well. Now I have an extra one to keep on hand. I am happy that I ordered it and pleased to have it in our home.

I already have a similar fire suppression blanket in my kitchen, but figured it couldn't hurt to have additional ones available. The blankets are a good size for contained fires before they get out of hand. I like that these blankets don't require a lot of thought to deploy, and cannot spread flames is not used correctly. Good product that everyone should have multiples of.
