Review: Just wanted to write a quick review just in case anyone wanted to buy this HDD (which in terms of performance/price value was one of the better deals, at least when on a discount). To put it simply, the HDD has roughly the same performance as 2 old ancient HDD's I have from something like 2013 or 2016 (TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 and HDWD120). This new Drive however had much better Sequential Reads and Writes (by almost 100% more in some cases) and is much better at the "Power Management" options, but that is where it ends, because all the other Test are almost exactly the same with slight improvements here and there. The seek times are comparable to most standard HDD's (between 10-25ms), and so on, but what confused me the most is all the other tests I performed weren't great, not sure if I got a defective Drive (I checked and it was both new in terms of Date and SMART health) or this is how it's supposed to be. For example, the Random Read/Write tests are almost the same (if my old Drives that have less than 100-200 days of life left, and averages 200-600 IOPS, this Drive had almost the same numbers, give or take maybe 50% better at most in some tests). The worst test however are the Reading and Writing "speeds" if you will, when it comes to "seeking" their allocation (I don't know how else to explain it), but from all the tests I performed there were almost exactly the same as my ancient Drives. It's kinda disappointing to see a HDD come out from Toshiba, 10-15 years later, at the same price point (about 100$ per 2TB essentially) with almost the same amount of "value" Cache for it's time, and at best it's a replacement HDD for old aging Drives. If I didn't know better, I would say the 512 MB Cache is the only thing that is carrying it. I mean to put it in perspective, my old Toshiba HDD's were 64 and 128mb in Cache, and somehow they are able to keep up this new Drive. There is also the sound, the heavy "thud" every few seconds, that even after several hours per day didn't go away. I know modern drives are supposed to have some kind of "smart" read/write system, and that is where the "thud" sound comes from, but this was beyond loud, I can hear it even hit my PC-Case via Vibrations, something I never heard any other Drive do (apart from very old Laptops HDD's). This is supposed to be a Consumer grade HDD, and not one of their fancier ones, yet it was acting Server Grade, which isn't bad (in fact it would have been really good), but it only comes with a 2 year Warranty, which kinda defeat the whole purpose of it. From what I was able to gather, the sound was most likely was tied to the Cache itself, which again, seems like they're relying on that more than anything, for I have a feeling a 256MB Cache would actually have made it perform worse. I have tested some lower budget HDD's (5400RPM, 128MB, etc) that were much cheaper and performed about as well as this Drive, so I don't what the issue could be. Again, I want to make clear that I don't know if the Drive was defective or if this is how your standard HDD is supposed to be today, but at the very least, if it wasn't defective, it could have been slightly better? I feel like even if on a budget, it should be 25% better in terms of performance across the whole board minimum, and not be essentially the same Drive from 15 years ago, with about 4-8x more Cache.

Excellent reliable product. Bought two 6TB Seagate HDD before both eventually failed while under warranty. Seagate actually replaced them both with a re-furbished models. Those drives also failed after the original warranty expired. I was not happy. I am now switched completely to Toshiba HDD. No drives failure so far and it is more quiet than the Seagate drives. Very happy with the purchase. I avoid Seagate like a plague now.
