Q: Is the mini an appropriate size for a dog up to 10 lbs?

I think so but i would watch. These are really small. I have them for my cats(8 and 17lbs) My rottweiler could swallow it so obviously not appropriate for larger dogs.

The descriptor at the bottom appears to be referring to the small football shaped version, so it is doubly incorrect. The ball on offer here is the mini round version, correctly described in the main description as having a 2" diameter. My 15lb poodle cross is absolutely obsessed with this ball and it is an ideal size for him. It is extremely durable and still looks good as new after months of daily use. Obviously the ball needs to be sized to the dog. If you have a large breed who is a destructive chewer, I would suggest not buying a very large size that the dog can hold with its paws and tear up with its jaws. The ball is designed for containing small treats, but I have not used it in that way as I feel it would encourage destructive chewing. I have also tried the mini football-shaped version, which I would guess is 2" central diameter and around 3.5" in length, if that makes sense. My dog much prefers the round one.

Q: What is the diameter of the holes?

Half of the holes are 1/2 inch (They are hexagram not round) and half are 3/8 inch (They are pentagram not round).

I have a 4.5 lb dog. Filled my sink with water then put in ball - sunk to the bottom. I have a small Chuck-It ball that does float.
