During 40 years we have owned and fostered many different breeds of dogs and fed dry, tinned and home cooked foods. Burns Alert has proved to be the best complete dry food we have fed. Some of our dogs have been nervous, had digestion problems having led previous unfortunate lives. Our present adopted rescue dog is suffering over the last year with a neurological illness and has to take steroid medication which has side effects. He needed careful feeding, nursing and retraining. After eating bland home cooked fresh chicken and rice he progressed onto Burns Alert Lamb. During his illness he lost co-ordination, confidence, was frightened, had digestive problems with messy accidents and lost so much weight. His skin was thin and his pads would easily injure. Now his harsh, previously thinned coat is thick and shiny and skin is healed. He has returned to be a happy, friendly dog who has astonished vets with his recovery. We believe that Burns Alert Lamb has aided his recovery enjoying the food so much he prefers it to biscuit treats!

My dogs seem to love this flavor, they go nuts at meal time with it. With other flavours like chicken, my biggest dog usually refuses to eat straight away when I put the food down. But with this one she cannot wait for me to put the bowl down and starts eating with no fuss and then goes checking the other dogs bowl's which is unusual for her so definitely a hit. I don't like the smell of it particularly but as long as the dogs like it is fine. I've also noticed that with the burns food they do so much better like their coat and everything has improved so I'm happy with that.

I needed a grain free product for a Rottie with a very severe allergic reaction to wheat and barley. For nearly 18 months I fed a diet of raw fresh beef and cooked vegetables which worked extremely well but was both expensive and time consuming and so looked for a commercial alternative.Having tried a number of foods, the best of which was Skinners Duck and Rice although a little too high in protein for an already hyperactive dog, I researched the Burns website. Alert was recommended for assistance dogs and claimed that animals were calmer with this as their regular diet.He is now in his third month on this food and the change has been remarkable he is indeed much calmer and has a very healthy coat . I am frankly horrified at the price some outlets charge, but on the Amazon regular supply plan , together with the fact that 400 grams daily keeps my 110lb rottie in excellent condition, the cost is around £29.00 pcm which isn't exorbitant for a large breed. With a less challenging or active working dog the Skinners alternative would have been equally good,however we shall continue with Burns Alert. Stools are also diminished in quantity and firm!!

this food, which recipie was designed by the vet who runs the company, is amazing. My dog has never had an upset stomach. She's ideal weight and her coat is always in great condition. I would recommend this food to anyone. Also, they have a helpline who's number is on the packaging. It is for a team of pet nutritionist experts who can advise on any dietary issues your pet may have and it's completely free of charge

Feed a 10yr old Lab and 2yr old Cocker on Burns Lamb & Rice Alert. Both dogs thrive on it. Best thing is, you feed a relatively small amount and accordingly get a reduced quantity out the other end unlike some other dry foods we have tried. Price on Amazon is comparable or cheaper than anywhere else. Will carry on with this food until they say they don’t like it!

We bought this as our dog had gone off his regular wet food and we figured maybe dry would be better. He suddenly seemed interested in eating again and he would eat this food for about 2 days before he stopped eating it all together. If we pour it out for him he will avoid the bowl and starve himself all together. Luckily he decided he was fine with his old food again :| so luckily we haven't had to worry but I wouldn't not buy this food again and I can't say I would recommend it to others either especially when I can't even get our own dog to eat it!

Great product for our senior dog, everyone comments on how young she looks and I feel having used this brand for years has been a factor in keeping her young. She had both back legs done aged 4 and hasn't had a bit of bother since with arthritis either and feel the product provides the extra benefits she needs to support her in her senior dog years.

Always used this feed and other flavour of Burns. Easy to measure out once you've weighed to see how much to give. Never had an upset tum with it. People comment abouthow our black labs coat Iis so shiny. He looks really healthy and slim
