Do you walk on snow or ice regularly? Get these.
My first winter in a state where snow exists, I tried to walk around with running shoes, and about faceplanted four or five times. After that, I did some research and Yaktrax constantly came up as a solution. After an entire winter of walking to work and being oblivious to traction requirements (along with one instance of winter hiking), I would heartily recommend these. Unless you're stepping on sheer ice, you can walk anywhere with near impunity. They slip a little when your toe comes off the ground and you move forward to transfer weight to your other foot, but it's immaterial because that foot isn't supporting weight at that point. They are fantastic for walking in snow/ice.I would caution against using them for jogging/running, for the very reason above. They have no serious tip of the toe traction, so they will often slip on that motion. Not a problem when walking (other foot has got you covered) but when running you spend some time in the air not supported by either foot, and a slip there can cause a drastic loss of balance. Yaktrax does make running specific ones, but I cannot vouch for their efficacy. If you use them regularly, these will last slightly less than a season. The metal coils wear down surprisingly quickly, but this is somewhat true of any product that you put your full weight on all the time. By the end of winter I was crimping and bending the busted coils with pliers to make them last until spring/summer. If you live in a perpetually snowbound area, they may not even make it through half of winter... so get two pairs. The irony of Yaktrax is that while they increase your traction on many surfaces (concrete, snow, ice, etc.) they drastically reduce it on several indoor surfaces. On tile I have had to brace myself on one or two walls to prevent crashing to the ground. Works well enough on carpet, but after wear hits the coils, they will snag and stick in the carpet, making it even worse to walk on. Bring another pair of shoes to use for indoor use, or be prepared to take the Yaktrax off and on repeatedly. They are not easy to quickly remove or add to shoes (unless you are more nimble than me and that is a very low bar). The short version is: Do you live in a place where winter occurs in short intervals? These will work well. Do you live in a place where Winter is a constant fact of life? You probably already have a solution.Either way, if you can afford the expense (and they're not that pricey), you can stroll around during Winter with impunity.

Works Well on Glare Ice As well as on Snow
I just purchased my third pair, over maybe a 20 year period. All have worked well and each successive pair has been improved over the previous ones. They are now heavier and the Pro model has a retention strap which fits over the top of the foot. I can literally walk up and down my icy driveway (which is on an incline). They allow me to walk on glare ice without falling and I can shovel or run the snowblower with confidence. They are well worth the price.

Great traction on ice.
Got these for my dad and this is the only brand that I've ever been able to find that's large enough for him. He's broken bones from walking on ice in Omaha and these make him feel confident and not scared to walk in the winter. They don't last more than a couple winters, but well worth it.

Great for traction and stability
A friend recommended these because I walk my dog no matter the weather and have fell a couple of times. Once braking my wrist. I feel more stable wearing these and they stop the slip motion overall. I did notice today (approximately a month after ordering) one of the metal spirals on the back end of the left Trax has snapped and is in two pieces. They aren't horrible expensive so I'll likely order another pair. But if you have to replace them every month that's not practical! Maybe it was just a fluke.

Easy to attach, works well
I bought these because my neighborhood has been getting ice on top of snow making walking around really difficult, even scary. Putting these on my boots made a huge difference. They're quite easy to attach -- you stretch them over the boot then secure them with a velcro strap. Removal is just as quick and easy. It's OK to wear these on dry surfaces (such as a concrete garage floor) though of course you wouldn't want to wear them on indoor surfaces.I got the "Extra Large" size which fit my US Size 13 boots quite well.

A must have for walking on icy roads
This is like the third or fourth pair of these I've bought ... after a few years of hard use in cold weather, one of the thin rubber straps will snap, which isn't surprising. I feel like I get good value for the money spent, and they sure make me feel more confident walking in the winter on the hilly roads around my house.

Great so far!
These were easy to put on and they made walking on ice and snowy muck safer and more comfortable. So long as they last a few seasons with proper care, they are perfect for the price.I will be careful with them, however: I first bought them from Amazon Warehouse but that pair was broken, so I know the plastic/rubber components can snap.

SIZE WAY UP!
The first pair I had broke within six weeks the rubber completely snapped. The first pair I purchased was the size recommended. The second pair I got was two sizes bigger than what I should be wearing per the chart and they fit perfectly. These are a woman’s size 9 shoe wearing the size 13+ yak trax.
