This is because it has a larger molecular weight than other alpha hydroxy acids, which results in a slower, more balanced distribution. Ingredients Propanediol, Aqua (Water), Mandelic Acid, Glycerin, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol. I kept hearing about Mandelic Acid being recommended so I decided to incorporate it into my skincare routine. I was a bit hesitant of this one as I've seen other products at a higher price with less of a percentage. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. The Ordinary packaging is minimal which I like. The glass bottle and dropper are sturdy. The only issue I have with this packaging is it being glass for traveling. The serum is a gentle exfoliating serum that is gentle enough to avoid irritation. I’ve used other acids before, but they often left my skin red and uncomfortable, so this seems like the perfect balance. I've found it does tend to run out of the dropper which can deliver more product than intended The serum feels lightweight, absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel sticky. I've been using it in a skin cycling routine every 4 days, and so far have noticed my breakouts clearing up, a reduction in new breakouts, pigmentation becoming lighter and my complexion looking more even. After the first two uses, I noticed some minimal purging but it subsided fairly quickly. I think this might be as I also incorporate Azelaic Acid and Retinal in my routine so I think it'll be different for everyone depending on your skin. The added hyaluronic acid helps keep skin hydrated, which makes it less irritating than some other exfoliants but as it's pretty mild I wouldn't expect fast or immediate results. At this price point, it’s excellent value and I intend to continue this in my routine for the foreseeable.
