A Comprehensive Book with a Simple Message
King wrote a comprehensive book on how to deal with challenging children behaviors. She encourages caregivers to identify the problem and help children develop emotional skills to deal with challengesm As she explains, as caregivers, we have the opportunity to help children develop crucial skills such as self-control, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities. The book is well-reseached and comprehensive.

Finally!
My son has always been hyperactive. He has a hard time focusing. I honestly have not wanted to put him on any kind of medication because it didn't feel like a good idea. This book has so many tools to help with the struggles we have faced. There is a chart that I particularly found useful called 'Signs of sensory processing disorder.' Good information.

Game changer for my classroom, and my family.
Excellent advice for how to reframe my view of my students behaviors, immediately shifting to a more problem-solving mindset. Loaded with tips and tricks, including quick reference visuals, in case you're not perfect as you learn these new skills. I'm applying them at home as well. Honestly it's just good advice for everyone who has relationships with anyone.

A must-have book for parents!
Parenting children is not easy, especially that they can really be unpredictable. Not to mention, as they are still in their early stage of development, both mentally and physically, regulating their behavior can truly be a difficult task. Thereby, dealing with their tantrums and emotional breakdowns can tempt many parents to resort to conventional punishments, which had been proven to be ineffective. So, if you want to successfully regulate your childโs behavior and raise them to be kind and intelligent, then this book is a must-have! This book will efficiently guide parents and caregivers to learn behavioral regulation that is derived on actual empirical data and empathy. Hence, because the book is scientific and emotionally considerate, parents can be assured that their children can receive adequate and proper regulation based on the strategies they learned from this book. I genuinely believe that this is a must-have for any parents, especially those who have kids that can be difficult to handle.

Know your child
When your child throws a fit, you can only hope it stops soon. From Surviving To Thriving is going to be your bible so that you will know how to address this poor behavior. It's more than "Time Out." You will learn techniques on how to modify your child's behavior. It can be as simple as game-playing. Anxiety will be a thing of the past. Get your child to feel that they are included and foster self-worth. You will be provided information on involving your children in social activities, and they will learn how to interact appropriately. In instances where they are rejected, you will know how to counter them so they will not be negatively impacted. In essence, you will learn how to teach your kids how to behave when things do not go the way they want. It will be done positively so your kids feel good about themselves. This is an excellent book for parents or anyone with children around them.

Highly Recommend!
As an early intervention OT practitioner, emotional regulation comes up almost every day. This book is an amazing and extensive resource for myself, other providers outside of OT, and parents. Looking forward to bringing my learned knowledge into my practice. The sections are broken down so well and I loved the sensory and ADL pieces. So much effort, research, and time was put into this and it shows!
