I bought these specifically because they had stainless steel cables not just stainless steel casing on the clips. Strongly suggest these given the strength of the cables themselves. I use it to hold a remote control on my belt and I’m constantly pulling it forward to use and I’ve never had a problem. First set I bought claimed to be stainless steel, but the cables were strong twine and broke after several uses. These do have very good tension on them for retractability, which is good and bad given I pull it forward for use and it actually is slightly tiring given the strength, but I have no problem using. Would definitely buy again if needed.

I use this badge holder in a hospital setting to hold my badge, several "badge buddies", a Sharpie pen, small flashlight, and a little pill holder. There's a split ring on it to hold some of those items. I also have to pull the detractors hundreds of times a day to get onto the computer, open doors, etc. It's holding up nicely. Most regular badge reels lose their "spring" and just droopy down from a few inches of the weak string cord before it breaks after another week. This one has held up great for several months so far. It was extremely stiff when I first got it, but it is working great with no signs of weakening! I also attached a resin "doo-dad" to it for visual purposes, and it turned out just like I wanted it! It's surviving the weight of all my "thingies", hundreds of extensions/retractions a day, and I haven't worried about it breaking or wearing out at all.

Very well made. Kind of heavy, but works well. It’s has a cable line, so it’s pretty heavy duty. I imagine it will last a while.

Absolutely perfect and the perfect retractable cord! This actually appears like a very lightweight winch cable. Not heavy. If I break this one, I am just not meant to have a retractable.

This thing is worth every penny in my opinion. I use this for my ID. I’m a nurse, so I have a myriad of gear on my person (i.e. Vocera, Hygiene indicator device, pens/markers, ID, and other cards); other badge reels could not possibly hold the weight of all the paraphernalia I need to, but this badge reels holds up. It doesn’t have the cutesy design but that’s okay. I bought it for its function, not the design. So far, I have not experiences problems with its retractable feature; will update if I found any.

The retractable cable is sturdy and high quality, and overall the keychain feels well made. Unfortunately, the belt clip failed after about a year because it’s attached by a very small plastic tab that can break easily. It’s a surprising flaw in an otherwise excellent design.

The features and the quality are good enough that I found the price very good. It's a healthy retract strength with good weight bearing and feels reliable and sturdy all around. Compact too.
