Great for hardcore gamers
I bought the ROG Strix G16 with one major concern: future-proofing. I was tired of buying laptops that could handle games at launch, only to struggle with the next wave of AAA releases a year later. I can confidently say this machine has completely eliminated that worry. This laptop is an absolute beast that handles the latest, most graphically demanding games of 2024 and 2025 with stunning results. The star of the show is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060. Paired with the powerful Intel Core i7-13650HX, this laptop doesn't just run new gamesโit crushes them. I've been throwing everything at it, from sprawling open-world RPGs to fast-paced competitive shooters, and I'm consistently able to play on high or even ultra settings at a stable, high framerate. The real magic for keeping up with current releases is DLSS 3 with Frame Generation. This isn't just a gimmick; it's a revolutionary feature that significantly boosts performance in supported titles, ensuring that even the most unoptimized or graphically punishing games are incredibly smooth. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I have this technology in my back pocket for the big releases coming down the pipeline. All that power would be wasted without a great screen, and the 165Hz display is the perfect match. The gameplay is buttery smooth, with no tearing or stuttering. The motion clarity is night-and-day compared to older 60Hz screens, and it gives you a tangible edge in competitive games. Finally, the supporting hardware is top-notch. The 1TB Gen4 SSD means load times are practically nonexistent, and with 16GB of DDR5 RAM, multitasking with Discord or a browser open while gaming is effortless. Even during long sessions, the cooling system does an impressive job of keeping temperatures in check without sounding like a jet engine. If you're looking for a gaming laptop that won't just play today's games but is ready for tomorrow's, the ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a fantastic choice. It offers incredible performance that keeps pace with the ever-increasing demands of modern game development. Highly recommended!

Worth It
The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is easily one of the best gaming laptops Iโve used. It hits the sweet spot between performance, build quality, and valueโmaking it perfect for both competitive and casual gaming. The 165Hz display is incredible. Games look buttery smooth, and the high refresh rate really helps in fastโpaced titles like shooters and racing games. Colors are vibrant, brightness is solid, and the slim bezels make the screen feel even more immersive. Powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, this laptop handles modern games effortlessly. Whether you're playing AAA titles on high settings or pushing high FPS in esports games, the 4060 performs consistently well. Ray tracing and DLSS support also give visuals a serious upgrade. The cooling system is excellent, keeping things surprisingly quiet even under load. Temperatures stay under control, so you get stable performance without thermal throttling. The keyboard is another highlightโcomfortable travel, fast response, and of course, great RGB lighting that makes the whole setup look clean and gamerโready. Battery life is good for a gaming laptop, and the overall build feels premium and solid. Plenty of ports, fast storage, and strong WiโFi round out the experience. If youโre looking for a powerful, smooth, and stylish gaming laptop that can handle anything you throw at it, the ROG Strix G16 is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for gamers, creators, and students who want serious performance.

The 16GB DDR5 RAM ensures multitasking is a breeze, whether Iโm gaming, streaming, or working on video edits. Display: The 16-inch, 16:10 FHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate is a game-changer. The visuals are buttery smooth, vibrant, and crisp. Itโs perfect for fast-paced games where every millisecond counts. Build and Design: The laptop feels premium and sturdy. The cooling system is excellent, keeping the machine cool even during intense gaming sessions. The RGB lighting on the keyboard adds a stylish touch. Amazing machine
It's a big and beautiful laptop that slurps up all games like jam while staying very quiet by laptop standards. Expect high framerates and few frame dips thanks to high CPU limits, but with a few caveats. Pros: 1. It is insanely fast and quiet. Balanced mode fans are around 40 dB (about as quiet as a desktop) but you can make them run much louder in Turbo mode. 2. Good display. The 165Hz screen is quite good and fast, slightly better gamut then my previous laptop. The 16:10 ratio is also really nice for games and productivity apps. Mine has a slight green tint but only when using the iGPU, switching to Nvidia removes it. Which means it's probably a software issue (see "Cons" below) 3. It runs cool. While playing endgame Dyson Sphere Program (basically a CPU stress test) the CPU doesn't even reach 80 degrees and manages to squeeze out 60+ fps where my old Ryzen 7 4800H would crap out and struggle to cough up 35 fps. Cons: 1. Asus software is horrible, it's like it was coded by interns. This is the main reason I took one star off the review, out of the box MyAsus and Armoury Crate hog CPU and RAM and are constantly fighting against Windows' settings and each other. They can cause constant freezes and weird bugouts like the screen colors going haywire. Even after replacing them with G Helper, there are still a few lingering issues I have to be wary of. 2. Bad battery life. Out of the box it runs like 5 hours max, 4 hours if you disable the screen battery saver (60 Hz is nauseating). Definitely going to need to lug that huge power brick around. 3. The middle fan is very high-pitched like the ones you'd find in thinner laptops. It can be distracting for some, personally I'm on the fence. It is still very quiet and even gets drowned out by external speakers or headphones. 4. Gaudy design. The lightbar is obviously annoying and the keys are pretty much unreadable without backlight on, which I really hate. The 4-zone RGB keyboard is also poorly executed, it looks patchy and has very limited color range. Typing on it feels very good though, it has full-size keys, high travel and good feedback. I just wish it had a numpad or a dedicated Home, End, PgUp and PGDown keys, there's a lot of wasted space on the deck. Overall I'm still very happy with my package, would recommend it to anyone who wants a well cooled laptop with insanely high performance with a tradeoff of portability and battery. And Asus, please fix your damn software.

A perfect upgrade from another ASUS gaming laptop
Where do I start? I've had this laptop now for ~9 months and do not have one complaint about it. It's fast, it's reliable, and it does everything I need it to and more for gaming. I had an ASUS TUF gaming laptop that I had for over 5 years and it did me very well up until the Unreal 5 Engine decided my cute, little GeForce GTX 1650 wasn't enough to run it. There were 2 things I upgraded right away and that was the NVME and RAM. Glad I did that at the time because WOW RAM is crazy expensive now; thanks a lot AI. Anyways, the 2TB storage upgrade was necessary so I could store more games on it rather than an external drive. Same with upgrading to 32gb RAM, and honestly, it should just be a common thing for PCs to come with no less than 24 or 32 gbs. I know 24 would be a little weird since there would be a 16gb stick and an 8gb stick but 16gb of RAM just doesn't cut it anymore. Anyway, if you're looking to upgrade and still want to stick with a laptop, this one is for you.

Had an Issue Soon After Warranty Expired, then ASUS Tech Support Made it Worse
One star seems to be the lowest possible. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Purchased the ASUS ROG Strix G16 Gaming Laptop in Dec. 2024. 12 month warranty. In February 2026 (14 months later) the built in screen on the laptop malfunctioned. Couldn't view anything on the built in screen, but the laptop still had full function by using an external monitor. Called ASUS support to troubleshoot the issue with the built in monitor. One of the steps their tech support rep instructed me to do was to go through steps on the computer to disable the Nvidia graphics card. I reminded the tech rep that the built in monitor is not working, and that we need to make sure not do anything that will cause an external monitor to no longer work with the laptop. He assured me that disabling the Nvidia card was the next step to perform and that it wouldn't be a problem. So I did it, and then the ability to use an external monitor was immediately lost. Without the ability to use any screen, there has been no way to re-enable the Nvidia card. So now because of ASUS tech support's mistaken instruction I lost all functionality for my laptop when prior to calling them I'd at least been able to use an external monitor with it (which is how the laptop has usually been used anyway). I requested that ASUS do the right thing to fix their mistake by approving action for their service department to restore the function of the Nvidia card so the laptop could again be used with an external monitor. But ASUS has only repeatedly said that because the computer is out of warranty they have no responsibility to fix it, even though it was their tech support that gave me instructions which caused the laptop to stop working with an external screen. Their response has continued to be that I can send the laptop into their service department, which will require me to pay shipping and a diagnostic fee, and then they'll provide an estimate for how much they'll charge to repair the issue that their tech support caused. This has been some of the worst customer service I've experienced for ANY product ever. I will not ever buy another ASUS, and I'd recommend anyone considering one to choose a different brand instead.

Awesome! Worth every cent!
I have had this laptop for 6 months now and I absolutely love it!! It handles AAA games quite reasonably. It tends to heat up some with intense gaming so I'm personally considering a cooling fan for underneath. The vividness of the screen is amazing. The fans are very quiet unless doing something intensive. Someone (CinCin) Stated that this isn't a true 16" but only 13". and also stated that the 17" is only 15". Untrue as what they measured was across when it should be measured on a diagonal. At any rate, I love ASUS, the sale deal I got on it was fantastic. It is upgradable which is really important to me. This laptop is a genuine little powerhouse. Worth every cent. I highly recommend!!!
