Ferplast hamsters, mice and rodents cage KARAT 100. Two floor structure with accessories, made of glass and black varnished metal, 98,5 x 50,5 x h 61,5 cm

This is the smallest of the Ferplast Karat range. I am glad I chose the smallest because even this one is plenty big enough for a single Syrian hamster. It is easy to put together without tools although pliers are handy when screwing the shelf supports in as that can get tough on the fingers. The only downside to this cage is the exercise wheel, which really is too small for an adult Syrian hamster. It is easy enough to replace though for one of a more suitable size. I have added a log cabin in the bottom layer as hamsters do like some privacy and somewhere to stash their hoard of food.

This could potentially be a fine large cage for a hamster. However, the way that the manufacturer packages - or rather doesn't package the item is a disgrace and potentially dangerous. All four sections of glass are packed between the outer of the metal cage and the cardboard shipping carton with no bubble wrapping or polystyrene lining or any protection whatsoever meaning that damage is almost inevitable. I've posted four photos so that you can see how it arrived. So, a wasted morning and now I have to schedule a Yodel return as this is the only return option given. Probably a great cage, but I will never find out as a replacement would be a waste of time, given the lack of packaging. Amazon should withdraw this item unless and until the manufacturer rectifies this.

The first one broke before it was even sent out for delivery but I phoned amazon and they sorted it within 5 minutes and put the new one on next day delivery for me. The cage itself is amazing! It's huge and fits together really easily and well and the coating on the wooden levels along with the large door on the top make it so easy to spot clean daily. My gerbil boys love it and I'm very glad I made the decision to get this one (even though the price is a bit OTT). My only negative comments are that 1) the mouth piece on the water bottle is huge and my gerbils couldn't drink out of it so I recommend getting a different bottle and 2) the wheel is too small for most animals so I bought a 28cm one. Overall I really love the cage :)

I bought this cage based on size and looks. Both of which are great. I chose glass rather than a plastic tray as I wanted to actually be able to see the hamster; which I can, so great-ish. Unfortunately, within a week my hamster had gnawed all of the rubber that is the adhesive bond that fixes the glass together. I am rather hoping the panes don't fall out! The "wooden shelves treated with a special liquid-resistant varnish" are basically painted ON ONE SIDE. You have to manually screw the metal support screws which the shelves rest on, into the side of the thin wood, and mine started to splinter. The "robust, narrow wire" is great and the hamster loves climbing on it but it means the water bottle (which is flimsy and cheap) has to sit inside the cage as the nozzle is too thick to go through the bars. The hamster would use it as part of the climbing frame causing it to slip down onto the shelf so the water leaked out. I have had to buy a smaller water bottle that attaches to the outside of the cage as well as a new wheel because this one is too small for a Syrian. At this price, I wouldn't expect to have to purchase these items again because of bad design. I am not sure if Ferplast tested this cage with a hamster before putting it onto production. Overall the quality of this product isn't as good as the price tag would have you believe.

This is a great cage, the different levels give your pet room to climb, and the glass area keeps them safe from other pets and nice and warm. It also gives them a good depth of digging space.The only thing I would say are, the shelves and ladders are made of wood so your hamster may chew them. We countered this by painting them in Bitter Apple spray. Hamsters also seem attracted to chew the silicone sealant in the glass part, so we painted bitter apple on to this too.Overall this is brilliant and I wish we'd had one of these from the beginning instead of the plastic contraption that we bought.

I got 5 sent to me all were smashed ,the glass was damaged finally after 5 I get one that still id damaged but only on the top corners don't expect this product to turn up undamaged at all. no packaging at all dispite endless phone calls steer well clear .

Pros:-Large-Sturdy-Plenty of space for enrichment across the 3 "floors"Cons:-I feel the glass tank should be taller to fully satisfy the gerbil need to burrow. Yes, it's plenty long, but it's depth does not allow for enough substrate when you consider you can't fill it to the top because cage goes on top.-Can be awkward to remove gerbil babies with the openings being so small. We typically have to remove entire cage top to take them out, which is a 2-person job. This quickly becomes tedious.-The mess in room - the amount of substrate kicked out of cage from each of the shelves makes a huge mess. Children walk in it, and then walk it all over the house - unhygienic when you consider amount of poop they kick out. I just today had idea of putting masking tape outside of cage around each shelf (see photo). Hopefully that works.This is a better gerbil house than I found elsewhere, but I now understand why people choose a simple, but very deep, chest-style house for gerbils. You can create floors within a chest-style house, but all the substrate will be contained. This cage has the floors already, but depth of substrate space is less than ideal.

Summer loves her new cage, so much that she has something to say " best Xmas present ever, lots of space to play and places to burrow and snuggle for when I'm sleepy its warm and cosy ready for the next day :) big hamster pouch cuddles and snuggles :)

Hallo zusammen,ich hab mir diesen Hamsterkäfig gekauft. Er ist schön groß und so wie es ein Hamster braucht. Dafür ein Plus. Das schlechte: Ihr könnt bei der Bestellung auswählen ob der Käfig mit "neuartiger Verpackung" geliefert werden soll. Das is Abzocke, ob mit neuartiger oder ohne, der Käfig kommt nur mit Karton und ohne Verpackung. Resultat:Das Glas kommt immer gesplittert an. Ihr müsst im Vorfeld mit Amazon das mit der Verpackung regeln, und ihr könnt euch das extra Geld für die Verpackung sparen.MFG Raphael

Belle cage mais arrivee cassee et normal vu que l emballage laisse à désirer pour du verre un simple carton avec la grille posée directement sur le verre...forcement ça aurais été un miracle si elle serait arrivée entière...

Très jolie cage. La partie basse vitrée est un atout visuelle en plus d’être efficace contre les projections de litière etc... Le bémol selon-moi, sont les attaches en plastique, et de vilaine couleur de surcroît, ce qui lui fait perdre une étoile. Des attaches noires en fer et cette cage sera parfaite.Pour ma part le colis était bien emballé, pas de casse.

Mir gefällt der Käfig gut und meinen Mäusen wohl auch. Er ist gerade so groß, dass man die Bodenwanne gut zur Dusche/Badewanne tragen kann und auswaschen kann. Die transparente Bodenwanne ermöglicht den vollen Durchblick zur Streuschicht und zu den Tieren, wenn sie sich dort aufhalten. Man kann hoch einstreuen und das Buddeln beobachten. Achtung: zumindest meine Mäuse fressen gerne die Gummedichtungen in den Ecken ab, es hilft einen Stein davor zu legen. Der Gitteraufsatz sitzt sicher in den Halterungen. Durch das Gitter ist für ausreichende Belüftung gesorgt und die Tiere können daran klettern. Die Treppen und Zwischenböden sind sauber gearbeitet und es besteht nirgends Verletzungsgefahr. Die Böden sind etwas dünn, wenn man die Schrauben reindreht kommt es schonmal zu Abplatzungen, was aber die Funktion nicht beeinträchtigt. Die Böden sind einseitig beschichtet und müssen entweder abgedeckt oder jedesmal gereinigt werden. Wünschenswert wären ggf. größere Zugriffsmöglichkeiten, aber mit den drei Türen kann man schon zurecht kommen. Das Laufrad ist vorteilhafterweise relativ groß.
