My First Aluminum Keyboard
As the title suggests, this is my first aluminum keyboard, so I may be a bit biased because it's my first. I liked the idea that it came in multiple colors, so I got the purple one. I'd say it's a little darker in color in person, but that's great because I wanted something a little more saturated anyway. I will say, though, with the color choice of purple, it can be hard to find keycaps that match or compliment it well, but otherwise, I enjoy the weight that it carries and the coolness and texture of the aluminum. The plate itself seemed quite well insulated and I did like the white dampening foam placed on top (I just felt bad when putting switches in since I would usually have to either create a hole in the foam or make a hole bigger). It has better gasket performance than some of my other boards, which is quite nice if I might add. Would definitely recommend this board as it is a bit on the cheaper side, so it's nice to have affordable options. I especially enjoyed the process of building it myself, too. Would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable aluminum keyboard.

Sturdy & cute
Photos don't do this board justice. I purchased the blue, and in person it is the most beautiful baby blue I've ever seen. It's incredibly heavy, and it seems high quality. This is my first keyboard that I've built myself, so I can't totally compare it to something similar - but this is a HUGE step up from straight out of the box, ready to go keyboards that I've used in the past. The software was easy to find and download from Epomaker's website, and there are SO many lighting features to choose from. (I personally love the glitter effect!) The small bar on the right hand side has a constant rainbow light cycle, even if you choose white lighting, so that is something to be aware of. I also love the detail of the tiny shooting star decal on the front. It's a beautiful board, it seems durable, and I can't wait to use it!

Very good quality for basic function... UPDATE!! BEWARE!!!
Does not appear to have QMK/Via functionality but it is a heavy, solidly built keyboard. It has a nice sound and feel due to all the foam layers. Excellent quality for the price. UPDATE: I am a collector and have multiple of these keyboards all with different switches. About 6 weeks after purchase, the electronic board inside of one went bad and could not be reset using hardware or software. Multiple of the keys in the middle of the keyboard had a broken lighting scheme and were inputting multiple keys from the same line at the same time. The manual was not of any help. Could not recover the keyboard function at all. Too bad... These keyboards feel awesome. Unfortunately, the color is no longer available, either. :( So far the others are OK, but I put a one star to warn others. There may be a problem with the internal hardware or software. It's not something you can easily flash and fix yourself.

Amazing quality for the price
Hello everyone, I have five custom built keyboards now and this one truly takes the cake. I love the off white eggshell color and the overall texture of the keyboard itself. Installation of the switches and then the keycaps went very smoothly (as expected). The led function lacks customization (as I cannot for the life of me find the program to change the settings). Even after that potential downside the south facing led’s shine brightly and can be dimmed decently well. The on board led settings are much better than some others on the market even if I typically keep it set of a solid color. After installing some Akko cs black switches and some decent keycaps the sound surprised me. It sounded very clean and bold thanks to the rather heavy all metal chassis. The added weight as well as it being all metal construction makes this keyboard feel much more premium than most of the competition around this range. This would be my first and only 75 percent keyboard and I love the size and profile. I don’t use my numpad much and wanted something larger than my 65 percent keyboards so this worked out to be a good deal for me. You can certainly look at the other colors but the eggshell case matched almost perfectly with a set of white jade keycaps. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase and would suggest this model to other builders.

A great board, but don't buy used.
This keyboard is an 87 key %80 TKL design with an F13 key and some other tricks up it's sleeve. WIth all of it's foam, It is a high quality sounding board. It is also quite unique sounding when compared to other boards that are more "thoccy". This board sounds softer and deeper than most. This is going to be quite the polarizing sound profile for a lot of people. For about half of you, this is going to sound muffled and unsatasfying. For the other half, It will sound beautifully "creamy" with the proper switches. I personally went with Gateron Pro V2 Milkys. These are great budget switches that come pre-lubed, feel and sound great to my ear. HOWEVER, The gasket design in these makes the PCB sit lower in the chassis than most other plate mounted models. The IXPE foam is also cut VERY NARROWLY around the RGB LEDs which reduces the light that finally gets to the keycaps. Even with side printed shine through, the LEDs have a difficult time illuminating the keycaps. This is, in part, due to the non-crystal housing and diffuser of the Gateron Milky pro V2. If you like Milkys, there are other Gaterons that sound identical with crystal housings that will perform much better. Removing the IXPE layer also has and improved effect on illumination while mostly having no effect on sound. This board owes most ot its sound to the silicone gasket and Polycarbonate switchplate. The rest of the foa m largely kills case ping, of which it has a lot if the foam is removed. The whole board is a bit inconsistant in sound. For example, my up arrow key sounds identical to My space bar. ABS keycaps on this board will sound more "creamy" than PBT, but not by a ton. In fact, many users may find ABS to be TOO creamy sounding and enjoy the slightly more marble like sound from PBT to offset it, offering a slightly more tactile and audible satasfying bottoming out sound. The Software. It's pretty cringe and not too intuitive. The click and drag to select mechanism is clunkly and remapping of keys is most easily done using a second keyboard. I found this out as I prefer my pg up, pg dwn, home and end keys laid out in a WASD formation for use in Audacity. If you only have one keyboard, you have to send the keys previous function to F13 and play musical chairs until you get your layout as desired. There may be a different way to do this, but I didn't really look too deeply into it. It is "serviceable" and I have seen far worse. But it certainly could be far better. EPOMAKER, please just pay for a VIA liscence. Pictures You will notice that the F10 is brighter than the surrounding keys. This is due to that key having one of Fekkers own provided switches in that position which has not light defusser as opposed to Gaterons solution. Final verdict. This is a great feeling and sounding board at a budget price. However, it is clear to see where corners were cut in oder to bring this to market at the price it is. It should also be known that the barebones kit DOES NOT have wireless options at the time of this review. Additional notes: I purchased this board used in "like new" condition. WHen it arrived it had one defective LED, which was a let down, but I was prepared to live with it. less than a week in, another went defective. I contacted EPOMAKER to see if they could send me another PCB. As it is used, they could offer no solution outside of "reset the board settings and cycle the light settings" I did, but as suspected, it did nothing. DO NOT purchase this board from Amazon used. I have a feeling EPOMAKER would have sent me a replacement PCB, had the board been new, which would have only been about $6-$7 more. Amazon did offer a return, however, The turnaround for me is not worth pulling all the caps and switches to send it back

Peak
The best board I've heard and felt for the money. I have hand lubed glorious pandas and some cheap $30 pbt cherry profile caps in this board. It's very heavy, has tons of foam and a poly plate riding on a foam gasket which has some give but not a lot. The stabilizers are absolutely amazing zero stem wabble and consistent. Has a clean deep poppy sound. Tried a few tactile switches in it and all of em sounded good. Everglide jades, gateron azure dragons, durock t1s, c3 kiwis and the glorious pandas. The pandas, jades and dragons had the best poppy sound almost the same sound the t1s and kiwis were not as loud more subdued. Overall amazing board for the money would recommend.

sounds and feels great
Pros: mostly easy to deal with. No screws are through the front of the plate, which is a very good thing. Easy to force break. Sounds Almost as good as my zoom75 if modded out.... Almost Cons: the pcb is a little fragile so just be careful if you are opening it. its thin with flex cuts. I tape modded mine immediately to protect it a bit and take out the flex. All-in-all it's a great board for the price

Barebones Flimsy, beware
I've now worked with three of the Galaxy 80 Barebones setups, and each one of them has had some issues. The first one I assembled fairly quickly, and 2 of the switch sockets broke free of their solder joints. Fixed with a soldering iron, no problem. The second one I dismantled and assembled much more carefully, no broken solder joints. However, 2 LEDs from the ESC-F12 row had LED-related problems. One would only illuminate the Blue-channel of the LED. Another one seemed to work okay until you pressed the switch near it, at which point the LED would cut out. I dismantled the board again and pulled out the soldering iron, resoldered the LED on each of those two switches, which had no effect whatsoever. I took it back apart and redid the solder a second time just to see if it was my mistake but no, it appears to be faulty LED ICs or a faulty PCB, or both. (SEE VIDEO ATTACHED TO REVIEW) The third one had the little metal cover with the star logo on it loose. I tried to tighten the screws on it, only to realize Epomaker used the shortest possible screws to retain that little component, it's barely attached at all. I tried adding threadlocker to the screws but one of them was basically stripped out. EPOMAKER: please consider the issues with this design. It sounds great, it looks great, it even feels great, but if the components are extremely filmsy, you'll have a rush of upset customers at some point. Just do the job right the first time.
