It is suitable for ages 2 and up, with its lovely rhyme and vibrant pictures. (I love how it is styled in the old Arab art form! It just adds to the book’s character) The book teaches the kids their shapes, while relating each shape to an Islamic theme. Such an awesome way to have the kids notice their surroundings with a new “Islamic” perspective. Review: Gorgeous illustrations! - My daughter got very excited as soon as she saw the book because it resembles the colors one, and she quickly went through it to find the little girl. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. There are so many ways to educate a child by reading this book, colors, shapes, math, objects, etc. I especially love the diversity of people and places displayed. It was nice being able to tell my daughter that the images were of Muslims in Africa, or Eastern Europe, etc. Highly recommend books by this author.

... it or not this children’s book makes for an amazing introduction to the vastness of the “Islamic World
I have been teaching high school students and leading professional development sessions about Islam since 2005 and believe it or not this children’s book makes for an amazing introduction to the vastness of the “Islamic World.” With valuable vocabulary, set to beautiful pictures this book can serve as a gateway to religious pluralism for children 5 to 95!

Youngsters Introduced to Shapes and Islam
For those who want children to grow up knowing not all Muslims are terrorists, this book introduces youngsters to shapes using Islamic words ( with pronunciations and definitions at the end of the book) and little poems. I gave this book to a Catholic mother, and she loved it.

We love this book and Author!
I love this book, my son does too. I bought 2 extra books, one for my mom's classroom and another as a gift for a girl in her class who is a refugee from Afghanistan and really likes to read.

My daughter really enjoyed henna Khan's other book golden domes and silver lanterns so had to purchase this one. Definitely wasn't disappointed. I like the way it's written and the illustrations are different to other books so maybe that's why it draws you in. I like that this is a hardback book.
