Elgato 4K X – Capture Up to 4K144 with Ultra-Low Latency on PS5|Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, OBS and More, HDMI 2.1, VRR, HDR10, USB 3.2 Gen 2, for Streaming & Recording, PC|Mac|iPad

Bought this to upgrade my original 1080p version of this device. Elgato make quality hardware, and this allowed me to upgrade to full 4K on my streaming set up. I use it with OBS and it just presents as a webcam, you don't need to install any extra software. I'm also able to take an extra audio feed out of it, so when i'm streaming, I can capture the audio both in OBS and also out via Discord so that other people joining me on stream can get a live feed as well. It's a solid bit of hardware, dead easy to use, high quality and have had no compatibility issues. Only thing to be aware of is that this kind of device does NOT work with HDCP - so for example, if I want to use Netflix on my main PC, it'll make the screen go blank once Netflix tries to kick in HDCP. It's not a fault in the device, HDCP is designed specifically to block this kind of thing to prevent piracy. Annoying, as while I have intention to pirate, I'd like to still be able to watch Netflix without rewiring my set up to remove the capture device each time. This will be common issue on all capture devices however. Back on the positive, it works well with my 4K 60hz screens and other than when watching Netflix, I have it in live use all the time even when not streaming, zero latency issues getting in the way at all. I also have a switch connecting it to all my consoles as well (PS5, Xbox Series X) and no issues there either, no compatibility issues at all (make sure HDCP is disabled on the PS5!). Great bit of kit, highly recommended.

I got this primarily to record 1080p input streams from other devices on Mac. It was plug-and-play, HDMI goes into the source, USB-C into the Mac and it shows up. It only worked on the USB-C port nearest the power cable on my Mac M1 laptop, the other 2 USB-C ports didn't connect. Maybe insufficient power on the other ports. I found OBS software to be the best option for capturing. Elgato Studio and Quicktime are simpler to use but have very few options for configuring and OBS has video filters to adjust color and picture quality. Although I intended to use it for 1080p, I have it set to 4K as it gives a sharper image and it works great at 4K60. I can record 4K60 videos and they are smooth and clear. Connection speed is 5Gbps. The product is compact and lightweight, the supplied cables are high quality and look durable. The device barely gets warm even after using it for hours. One thing to note that I found out later is the 4K X has higher quality recording formats. I assumed the only difference was being able to capture 4K120 due to running at 10Gbps, which I didn't need but it also allows higher quality recording of the lower resolutions and framerates so if the best picture quality is needed, it may be worth paying the extra for the 4K X. The 4K S suited my needs perfectly, it's very reasonably priced and works great.

A good reliable brand for capture card. A slight personal update as been using the HD60 X but this is for current modern console. Good video quality and functional. Good product

I've not managed to get a decent 4K capture out of this device yet. I'm doing some specific video analysis and 4K is always blurry. At 1920x1080 60Hz RGB24 its great though. Crystal clear captures.

Absolute rubbish it does not work no capture device found despite being listed in Windows 11 device manager all app permissions allowed etc. Contacted Elgato virtual assistant followed instructions exactly & still no success. I then attempted to phone a human technical adviser to discuss using a remote program (TeamViewer) so an alleged expert could assist in resolving the issue,the phone contact was located in East Grinstead UK it ended before it had begun. No tech support whatsover frustrated & extreamely annoyed to say the least hence the white elephant will be immediately returned. To everyone reading this DON'T waste your money on an expensive completely useless device!

I bought this because I wanted to start recording and streaming again after almost a decade out, I have the original Elgato and I knew that it wasnt going to cut it in today's climate so I done some research and decided that the 4K S would fit my needs and budget. The packaging is premium like what you'd expect from Elgato, the device its self is really compact compared to the original Elgato and this was a very nice surprise for me and a bonus because it doesn't take up a lot of desk space! Setting it up was easy and it comes with instructions so if you're new or an old timer returning, you can't go wrong! The updated Elgato software is much, much better than the original and if you're unsure of what settings does what, there is an icon next to each of them explaining what they do, just hover over the question mark. Summary- great product, good value for money, easy setup, small device but packs a huge punch, highly recommend for console recording/streaming. P.S. if you want to record you and your friends audio you will need the chat link pro, but if you have the Astro A40 TR mixamp or mixamp pro, just plug a 3.5 cable in the back of the mixamp and directly in to your Elgalto, your voice might be low on your stream or recordings but this can be fine tuned in the Astro software, or you can invest in a mic to hook up to your PC which is what your stream/recording will hear and just use your headset like normal for your friends

Captures consoles and other devices to my pc perfectly with no effort and high quality with no lag. Just be warned when you buy this product that you have usb ports that gives it enough bandwidth and power. It comes with a usb C to C cable so make sure your motherboard has one available or you can use a USB C to A cable if you have a usb 3.2 gen 2 port. Anything lower it won't support it and it's not worth buying.

MacのM4でも問題なく使用できました。初めてのキャプチャーボードでしたが、映像はとても綺麗で、本体の性能には満足しています。本体がとてもコンパクトで、置き場所に困らないのも良かったです。 ただ、Switch 2をDiscordで共有する際の設定は少し分かりづらく、最初は手間取りました。慣れている友達に助けてもらって何とか設定できました。 価格はやや高めですが、画質や性能を考えると価格に見合った製品だと思います。
