I love it!!! This is the best paint meter i have ever had, super precise , tested it on my car and it worked perfectly, for only 90$ you get a great tool to know that you buy a car thats safe to drive and it hasnt been in a milliok accidents. Safety 1st!!

For the money it works great, I detail my own cars and some neighbors and find the tool really useful especially when it comes to use compounds and waxes. Since now a days paint thickness on newer cars is less and less. Very happy with the unit and already paid for itself

I got this to make sure my paint isn't thinning when I buff and polish the paint. The paint on modern cars is very thin and even with the clear coat, there's not much room for aggressive polishing/cleaning, especially at edges where it's easy to apply too much pressure .So this is a reference tool to know if I have areas that are thinner than others and to exercise more care in those spots. So for what I'm looking for, this is perfect. I can't speak to the accuracy since I can't compare it to a trusted standard. It seems consistent, which, for my use, is just as important. I suspect that if you're using this in a paint shop situation to check applied thickness then you'd need a certification for accuracy, which this would fall short on. Also, for paint on bumper covers (plastic panels), painted carbon fiber and other non-metallic composite panels or if there's PPF applied to the paint, this won't work for you. This needs metal (Al or steel) under the paint and needs to be used directly on the paint/clear coat. This is quick, easy and consistent. That was what I needed to keep tabs on my car's paint health.

Great paint thickness check! Works great! Great product. It does the job! For detailing and if you are purchasing a vehicle you can see if it there’s bondo or if you can go deeper sanding the paint.

I purchesed this item in June of 2021, so my window for return is long past. I work in the largest body shop in Arizona, so I have access to high quality thickness gauges, but decided to buy one to have at home, just in case. The gauges at work grew legs and disappeared, so I brought mine in last week to use if the occasion should arise. Work purchased a couple of new, high quality paint gauges, and I decided to test mine against the ones I knew were reading correctly. Every measurement was 2- 5 mills off (too thick). This was 2/2/24. I had never used the gauge before. If I could return it, I would. Too late now. Lesson learned. You get what you pay for.

Great value and great price. Follow instructions and it will work great. If you are shopping for a used car this tool is helping a lot. Pays for itself immediately. You can spot previous body repairs that the owner may not even know about. You can choose to walk away from the car and look for another one or try to lower the price.

As expected great product, I use it to measure how much paint there is to do my paint correction work.

This works very well. It is accurate (or consistent, I suppose), with another coating thickness gauge that I have used. I was easily able to identify a known-to-me repair spot and I like that this is very compact and works very quickly: it's definitely something I will bring with me, next time I am in the market for a used car. The body is built well and is somewhat durable. I haven't dropped it but it does seem like it can handle the odd accident.
