Poor Quality Control. Simple exchange
The item comes with two vinyl discs, one with soundtrack songs and one with film's original score. The disc one with all the good songs (the main one I cared about) was completely useless and wouldn't work because the record wasn't shaped/molded correctly so it was completely off center making one side jut out wider than supposed to with extra "plastic" that protruded which caught on the mechanisms so it couldn't turn, and the opposite side was cut short. Is there no quality control?! It was a very obvious defect which idk how it passed through inspection of there is any. Second disc worked but I'm returning it for an exchange and hopefully I get lucky and this one isn't messed up. If the second one doesn't work I'll return it for good and not try again. Very disappointed Bc I was really looking forward to listening to this great soundtrack. Will upgrade my rating (but not to 5) if the second one worksUpdate: Amazon customer service is great and sent me an exchange right away and the second one works fine. The return process was easy but still having to take it to ups and repackage it up is a hassle that shouldn't be an issue if they just had better quality control in the first place.

Vinyl is cassette sound
Just like the movie , this vinyl album uses the cassette equalization mix ... the cassette mix tape is a part of the story , director used original masters and recorded them to cassette (using great equipment) to get the right sound, as if actual mix tape was being played. So if u r looking for an amazing vinyl copy of songs like Brandy , keep looking cause this is the cassette tape sound , as is in the movie

Amazing soundtrack/score, quality packaging, I highly recommend this!
I contemplated only purchasing the soundtrack but decided to get this version with both the soundtrack and the score. I do NOT regret that decision. Obviously, if you love Guardians of the Galaxy, you're a fan of the Awesome Mix(es), but the score is very well done and the mix is perfect on this album. My girlfriend was dancing around to "Come and Get Your Love" earlier today - and when "O-o-h Child" came on, she challenged me to a dance-off to save the universe.Joking aside, this is well worth it for the score as well since the main theme is on point. Tyler Bates isn't as well-known as some composers in the MCU (namely, Alan Silvestri and Danny Elfman) but he nails it.An interesting thing to note is that rather than scoring the movie after filming/editing, Gunn had Bates score before filming and his direction followed the musical cues. They would even play the score on set to inspire the cast and crew! This is almost unheard of in the film industry but it allowed Bates to score the pieces he wanted instead of being limited by editing choices or forced to compose based on dreaded 'temp tracks'.And that tells us everything we need to know about why the score is so well written.

Two CD's for the FULL Guardians of the Galaxy musical experience!
FANTASTIC PURCHASE! (Or, as Groot would say: "I AM GROOT!")If you loved Guardians of the Galaxy in the theater then this is the album to purchase! The Deluxe Soundtrack is a two disc set that contains both the soundtrack (aka "Awesome Mix Tape vol 1") as well as Tyler Bates dramatic score. Rather than settle for one album or the other you can own both in one fell swoop for a terrific price.Disc 1: Awesome Mix Tape Vol 1I don't need to say anymore. This is the album that most movie-goers are going to be familiar with. Songs like "Hooked on a Feeling", "Spirit in the Sky", and "Cherry Bomb" lit up theaters as part of the trailers and are joined by other great hits like "Come and Get Your Love" and "Escape". It's a great collection of songs from the 70's that proves that Peter Quill's mother had great taste in music. Never before has a soundtrack album been integrated so perfectly into a film!Disc 2: The Score by Tyler Bates.Remember "300", "Sucker Punch", and "Watchmen"? That was Tyler Bates. It's a solid score that bounces from dark and brooding to tonally light and comical and back again. Tracks like "Black Tears" bring the Guardians theme to the forefront in a way that makes you wish you were back in the theater again, with a big tub of popcorn watching the crew of the Milano tear it up on the big screen. It's a subtle score in places but I've found that I listen to it as much as the Mix Tape!My only regret is that this wasn't available as an MP3 album and I had to wait a few extra days to get it in the mail.

I ordered the soundtrack on a record... I got it, what else is there to say about it :)
I just finally watched part 2 the other day and it was even funnier than the first one. Watched the 1st Movie again and had to order both of Albums for the soundtrack just because. They showed up 2 days later, listened to all 8 sides twice already. I didn't even own a record player any more in years, was at Menards for some paint and saw a Magnavox Record player on the shelf for $60, bought it and works great! Thank you :)

A Wonderful Mix of Songs!
I love movie soundtracks with popular songs on them. This is great because I can have songs I enjoy without having to buy the full album the song is on. Some of the songs I want to listen to, I don't know any other songs on the album and don't need the full album for one song. This is perfect.

Excellent if you get discs that fit! Good songs and sound quality!
Good songs and sound quality! Just what I was looking for. The only major negative thing was that the original score disc center hole was small, and a tight fit into the record player. Had to wiggle it down and out. Otherwise, plays great! There were some existing fingerprints on mine, which made me raise eyebrows, but since it played well, it wasn't an issue. I've also read reviews where some discs were molded very badly. For me, as I will mostly play the disc featuring the movie songs, and the score disc still plays fine in my record, I did not bother exchanging for another. All in all - excellent if you get working discs!

A great soundtrack that gels well with the 'moving image'
Possible SpoilersIn its second week of release, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy this awesome soundtrack has claimed the top position on the Billboard 200 chart Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy : it features classics from the 1970s songs such as Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling," "I'm Not in Love" by 10cc, Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love," and The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb."For at the heart of this movie is its music, as it plays an almost central thematic role in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" as the 1970s songs included in the film are part of the storyline in a pretty unique way. As one of the main narrative plot points in the movie, is that Quill has a compilation tape `Awesome Mix #1' that he received from his mother before she died, which she had put together for him. It has of songs that she loved, all songs from the 1970s, and this is the only thing Quill has left of his mother and his former home on Earth. He uses the music as a connection to his past and to the sadness he felt, but also joy - as we the viewer are engrossed in the opening sequences of the movie when Quill does impromptu dance sequence. For Quill, this is the soundtrack to his life. One of best Marvel films to date, with an excellent marriage between celluloid and music.

Fantastic soundtrack
After watching the movie it occurred to me that I had only seen soundtracks of the non theme tyoe musci for this movie. I wanted the actual soundtrack so I set about looking for it. I found this great album that has both. So if you want to dance along to great tracks from 70's and 80's pop and soul music .. if you also want to enjoy the actual soundtrack with character themes and music from key moments of the movie .. this has it. A great soundtrack to our modern day answer to Star Wars. Enjoy ... :)

Excellent music to make you smile
The first CD is 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' which is a collection of all of the songs played in the film.I love just about all of them, it's a great celebration of the late 70s- early 80s music scene. The second disc contains a number of different bits of background music from the film plus a couple of amusing bits of dialogue. A lot of it is really good, but not quite of the same awesome musical beauty of some of Hanz Zimmer's best.Still I have to give the overall product 5* as it just makes me smile.
