It doesn't matter which color case you get. The programming is the same on both. You can get the same characters, boy or girl, on both, but you don't get to choose. Each time you hatch a new egg to raise a pet in the game it's a random chance to be a boy or girl. You can hatch as many eggs in the game as you want over time (but only one at a time) so you'll have the chance to eventually get both boy and girl characters.
