Good to learn musical instruments
My daughter liked very much, her one of the favourite book. She already learned all musical instruments on the book via both sound and pictures.

Great for small groups
The sound effects actually sound realistic. The children were learning without even realising, and at the end, there are pictures of all the images for the children to name, plus the sound effects all labelled together, for the children to guess the sounds. I read this to my Squirrel Scout group (4-6 years) and they loved it!

A wonderful way to introduce a small child to different instruments
My 2.5 year old grandson was becoming interested in the instruments music was being played on and this absolutely hit the spot, easy touch buttons to bring on the sounds. (Also particularly useful was a youtube video I found of the Opera North orchestra flashmobbing Ravel's Bolero in a shopping centre, individual instruments gradually joining in coming down the escalator, etc - great fun.) He's 4 now and it all helped foster a great interest in various instruments which he 'played' having constructed them out of anything to hand.

Not adequate as an introduction to music. Competing noises. Buttons are very hard to press.
As an introduction to music, it is a very frustrating book. I bought three different models (opera, mozart and instruments), because of good reviews. I regret doing so and strongly advise against buying.1) Musical excerpts are very short (and in some cases too loud). You don't get complete musical ideas. Less than 10 seconds of Mozart it is not enough for fruition. Simply does not work, even as an appetizer.2) Buttons, for a small child, are almost impossible to press. An adult will have to press to buttons and the child will be frustrated for not being able to do so. My son (1 and 1/2 years) has other musical books. He enjoys being able to activate such books himself, but in this case that is not possible.3) In addition to musical buttons, there are buttons with horn sounds, "animal" sounds and others senseless noises. It is a huge distraction. These other buttons fight for the child's attention and prevent concentration on the music. They will introduce your children to the world of noise, and not to the world of music. That is the main defect of this book. This alone is enough reason enough to really throw the book in the garbage.4) Pages are thin. The book certainly won't resist for very long.5) Illustration are banal.Who made this book certainly does not love and/or understand classical music. This book musical provides zero musical education. In this sense, it is misleading. I would suggest its removal from the market.

A lovely book to introduce a toddler to instruments and classical music
Fantastic book. I bought this for my son and he is delighted with it. The musical clips are just the right length to give you a decent sample of each instrument without being too long for an eager toddler to want to hear the next one! The illustrations are lovely and is a fun way to introduce young ones to instruments. Really glad I purchased it.
