Great for beginners
This dry medium drawing set is great for both beginners and for people who have taken an extended absence from their art. With 26 pieces, it's enough to get you (or your kid) going with both the coloring, erasing, shading, etc. This would be a great way to introduce somebody interested to art.

These are nice . . .
I am no stranger to Faber-Castell art supplies. I've had a lot of their drafting pencils over the years but never any of their paints (at least not that I can remember). I will say that this is a nice sample set.Now if I had to go to the art store to buy some watercolor pencils and paints would I have instinctively chosen these colors? Probably not because I didn't learn to paint using process colors (Cyan, Yellow, Magnta). But after spending a half hour working with it and giving it some thought, I was able to mix what I needed to see. It was fun actually. The paints handle fine and mix well. The pencils were OK as well, maybe not as saturated as the Bruynzeel pencils I've been using. I'm sure after working with these colors for a week I wouldn't give then a second thought. The dual tip marker was good as well. The collapsing water cup is handy. The water brush is OK, the tip is not very pointed (I have some Pentel and Kuretake brushes that I prefer). It would have been really nice if they included a plastic mixing pallet for the paints especially with those primary colors (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Green) that they included. To summerize, this is a nice sample set. When the cardboard box wears out I will find a biscuit tin to put the stuff in and use them until they're gone.

Good quality
Great gift for kids who love art. The color pencils and pastels make vivid colors and blend very well. The eraser works great. I wish there were more varieties of colors. A great set for beginners though.

Great set!
This set is perfect for beginners and pros alike! My son is beginning to draw, and this set works very well for him. The pencils are sturdy, and he is able to draw and shade easily. The pastel colors are vibrant. The blending pencil works very well at shading. The eraser erases well, leaving nothing behind. The colored pencils are vibrant and made well, they also shade extremely well. The pencil sharpener is great quality, and made from metal. The pen that comes with it works extremely well also ( I like to use it for my rock painting) Great set,at a great price.

You're better off just getting the 12 piece watercolor tube set
I hadn't used liquid watercolor before so I wanted to give it a try. The blue was rather goopy and came out with separation. Make sure to squish your tubes a bit first. The other three colors all came out with a nice consistency and no separation. The blue was a bit liquidy in a bad way even after mixing. The colored pencils did not work well for me. I have a full set from a brand that is in theory not as good as this one, and they work much better. The blue basically dissolved completely, which is good in some ways. The pink and the purple would barely move and I tried it on wet and dry, dipped the pencil in water, used a brush, tried more water... did a whole lot to try to get them to blend better, but the led is a bit too hard for watercolor pencils in my opinion. If you are good at color theory then CMY and green should be easy for you. It's good to play with, but I don't think there is enough paint to do a whole lot of art. I do like the watercolor tubes though, they are good paints.A set of 12 watercolor tubes by Faber-Castell is $14.12. This set is $15.82. If you need the water color cup and the pen, which ofc were nice then perhaps this is for you. However, it's much more cost effective and a better use of time to just get at least the 12 piece set and skip this one.The pic is on wet paper on the top and dry on the bottom. Both worked equally well.
