Perfect fit on 2013 Chevy Avalanche
This replacement armrest fixes the terrible Chevy design. So much stronger and was easy to install once you have the old plastic rivets and armrest removed. I used 1/4 drill to drill the dozen spots on the back side of the door panel. Then I needed to get a screw driver to gently pry the old plastic rivets out at each hole only. The old plastic rivet tops popped right off. Was very easy to remove and new armrest fit perfectly on the door panel. It comes with 2 larger nuts to mount on the metal door plate in the center. I took a picture and circled in red. Take your time and clean the holes to get clean fit. Hardest part was just removing everything off the door to even begin the armrest removal.DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN NEW ARMREST!! I tightened the 2 larger nuts first. Then work your way around each section of the armrest to get even tightness and you'll have to do this a few times on each end to get them snug. SNUG is the word so use a hand racket and you'll feel them snug down, then stop. This was a perfect fit for my 2013 Chevy Avalanche and very happy with the end results. Spent an hour from start to finish and well worth the time.

Matches up great and very sturdy. 2013 suburban
Little bit more to install than a stock but definitely more solid and sturdy. Worth it to have a well made handle. Great option and matches up perfect which I was worried about. Very happy with it.

Perfect for 2013 Avalanche
Fantastic product. Perfect fit and color, at least the black model. Relatively easy install, just take your time when drilling out.

Masterful design and a lifesaver for the comfort of your driving arm
I Cannot tell you how happy I am this product exists, I lived with a absolutely destroyed arm rest for months until I found this. It looks factory built and was very easy to install after a little bit of laceration to the melted plastic grommets that held in the old arm rest. going on past 6 months and this thing is still holding strong, I could care lest if this thing last's only 3 years. the money was well worth the feeling of satisfaction and comfort I now have again with my driver door. now I just need the passenger one as it is now falling apart, but I don't think it exists... unfortunately.

2012 GMC Z-71
Ordered gray instead of black by mistake, but it gives the door panel a better refined look! Made like the original should of been. Takes time to drill out the old plastic welds. Watch youtube beforehand. One nut post is short, to make room for the switch assembly, so get yourself a smaller washer for this post from ACE Hardware. The fit is perfect! My phone camera shows how the sun glare made the panel look gray. After pic taken inside garage out of sunlight, and armrest looks tan, but matches gray headliner and interior windshield trim panels. May get one for the passenger side in same color, even though it's not broke yet.

Like a glove...with a little work.
The final product after install is fantastic. The door handle is very sturdy and esthetically pleasing. The modification to existing panel takes a little work but very manageable. Very pleased overall with the product. The only caveat is that it did not come with directions. Thankfully, the directions are in the pictures on the Amazon product page. I'm just glad I remembered seeing them there (might want to start including them, Dorman). No biggie for me, but might be for others. Thank you for an excellent product!

This item will work - go easy on tightening fasteners
This armrest is much more solidly constructed than the OEM armrest. When correctly installed, it's like a rock. Be aware, it's not a quick unbolt-rebolt repair. Once you've removed the factory door panel, use the new part with it's pre-installed machine screws to indicate which of the factory plastic weld points you'll need to drill out. I believe there are 10. I used a 1/4" bit to drill out the plastic welds. Then went through with a body panel tool to pop what plastic remained in the welds. There are 4 additional bolts to remove. The old armrest pulled relatively easily after that. I began fitting in the Dorman armrest by sort of lining the pre-installed machine screws with the newly drilled holes in the panel. Discovered I needed to remove some excess welding plastic. Got everything pretty much flat using a file and a step-up drill bit. Once everything was lined up, I attached the 2 main nuts to the center posts (next to where the factory bolts came out), then threaded the factory bolts back in. Once these were snug, I worked outward, threading each nut and washer onto its machine screw. Here's why 4-star, not 5: It is too *** easy to overtighten the nuts and strip the machine screw out of the new armrest. We decided that the nuts away from the center get lightly tightened, just until they start to compress the washer. Han-tight was too tight. Broke out epoxy to repair the once we stripped out.Fitment and finish are outstanding. It looks OEM and is much more solid. Happy with final result - hope to save someone else the hassle of epoxy. Would buy again.
