A go to book for Mauser and Mauser based Actions
I bought this book because I am doing some work on Spanish Destroyer Carbine actions. The Destroyer Carbine is an 1891/1893 style Mauser knock off. I bought barreled receivers without bolts from SARCO Inc.My work will involve making and fitting bolts as well as re-barelling these actions. I also wanted to modify the bolt for speedlock. Kuhnhausen furnished lots of information on mauser part heat treatment as well as adjustment and testing. There is a lot of custom fitting to make a Mauser action safe and functional. My idea of incorporating speedlok-cock on opening into a 1891 style bolt was addressed. The bolt design does not have sufficient material to cut the cock on opening ramp without weakening the bolt. This was explained and covered with photographs. It saved me from wasting my time and making a foolish decision. His information on setting up sear engagement, safety fitting, and barrel threading are just what you need to tune a Mauser.I would recommend this book to anyone working on Mauser and Mauser based rifles. The information is also of considerable help for Siamese Mausers, Springfields, and P14/P17 Enfields, and Destroyer carbines. There are a lot of Mauser actions around that were either not properly set up at the factory due to wartime shortcuts, or assembled from parts with no custom fitting. There are pictures, history, and functional descriptions of most of the Mauser designs.A great book for the amateur and professional gunsmith.

Mauser M91 through M98 Bolt Actions: A Shop Manual
This is THE definitive shop manual for Mauser rifles from 1891 to 1898. It is well-written, well-illustrated and well worth every penny I paid for it. I could not have asked for a more thorough coverage of the subject matter. If you own a Mauser from this time period, then you owe it to yourself to get a copy and protect it from your fellow gun enthusiasts who may lust for it. Tell them to buy their own. They won't be disappointed.

good little book
Recently I pick up an older mauser 98, so i want something that gave me more detail on whats the best way to care for or ways to tinker with. This book does just that.It mostly covers the action -trigger, trigger assembly and very good detail on the bolt and bolt assembly. If your one of those people who love detail plan drawnings and bits stripped back to the basics, then this is one for you.
