Must have for quick and accurate bicycle cable adjustments
The media could not be loaded. This Park cable adjustment tool is indispensable for quick and repeatable tensioning for both brake and derailleur cables. It allows the user to properly tension the cable and then frees up your hands to lock down that cable adjustment.Freehand cable tensioning is possible but it’s annoying and time consuming. This Park tool eliminates those “cons” and works flawlessly. It’s easy to use, well made and highly functional. It’s a bit on the pricey side but unlike some of it’s generic competition, it works well without any damage to cables. Some of the generics use a serrated cable grip that can put burrs or flatten and damage the cable. Not the Park cable tool - it works fine without inflicting cable damage.I wrench on bikes daily and I just installed all new cables on 3 bikes that I own and over time, the cables stretch a bit when new. I prefer to make the proper cable adjustments at the cable connection point rather than spinning out the brake handle or derailleur shifter cable adjusters. For that purpose alone, this Park cable tool is ideal.Hope that helps!

Love at first use
Bike maintenance is like meditation for me; it relaxes me, it makes the stress melt away. With the exception of running new cables.Sure, the beginning part is fine; preparing the housings, getting the perfect cable route, making sure everything stays nice and clean. But then you get to the brake or derailleur and realize that you need three, possibly four hands to get everything right. This frustrates the living daylights out of me.This tool is expensive for what it does, but it allows one to dial in the perfect cable tension, and makes the process effortless. Just keep the tool lined up, the little ratchet holds the tension for you, and tighten down the clamp bolt with your other hand. Easy as pie. If you've got rim brakes, keep them at the right position with a tie wrap while you do the above process.Five stars all day.

Expensive But Worth the Money
I have considered buying this tool many times, but have always balked at the price. After using it to run new brake and shift cables on a bike with cantilever brakes, I will say it is definitely worth the price. I was able adjust everything perfectly in minutes instead of adjusting and testing over and over like I’ve done in the past. This tool also works great to pull cable ties right. I used it to install a wired bike computer and got very clean, professional looking results. If you’re on the fence, buy it. You’ll thank yourself every time you need to do any cable work.

Essential for cable tension adjustments
This is a huge time saver. It is dead simple to use and I consider it to be one of the most essential pieces in my tool kit. Trying to adjust cable tension with out it is a non-starter for me. If you are enthusiastic about doing your own bicycle maintenance, this tool will pay for itself the first time you use it. It is a joy to use and will not pinch your cable and has a catch mechanism to make micro-adjustments easier.

Handy Tool, But Steep Price!
These are well made tools... Park Tools. This particular tool, is certainly pricey, compared to other well made brands, as I found out later AFTER buying it, but bought because of the reputation of the company! In most cases, this particular tool, was considerably higher priced than their competitors! By a lot!I tried adjusting Día-Compe (1982-style) center-pull, single pivot caliper brakes... was difficult, so much so, even with this tool, that I finally got smart!I replaced the brakes with Ultegra 8000-series, center-pull, dual pivot, caliper brakes... with this tool... was a breeze to install!!!!The brakes work GREAT too!Handy tool, just a little awkward to negotiate at first... but compared to not using them!?Night/Day!I think Park Tool should reconsider, dropping the price... $10?

a basic job done well plus a convenient lock
This is a common tool offered by several companies all of which do the same basic thing. This tool does a great job with that basic thing. What's different between this & some of the others is a locking ratchet. I've read previously that the lock is something between unnecessary & inconvenient. It may be unnecessary, but it is a convenience that makes it possible to pull to the right tension & then let go, relax & either free up your other hand &/or not worry about over tensioning the cable while your focusing on securing it. I use the tool on my brakes as well as derailleurs, it is on the latter where having your other hand is helpful & it is also important not to accidentally over tighten the cable. Rarely has the lock engaged when I didn't want it to, it hasn't been a big deal. If, however, you are the kind of person who yells at your garden hose when it gets stuck on a corner, the lock could be similarly irritating.

High quality, expensive, but worth it
The Park cable tool works beautifully. The quality is evident as soon as you pick it up. It's a bit expensive, but it will last years.

The third hand
This item is one of those things that you didn’t know how you got by before using It.Keeps the tension on the cable while locked and allows you to then tighten the nut (set screw)

Pinza tirafili. Imballo scandalosamente economico. utensile troppo caro. Ma fa benissimo il suo dovere. Lascio le 4 stelle proprio per la versatilità dell'utensile.
