My Must-Have Mum

Diversity, recycling and unconditional love!
A lovely vibrant book with the dual themes of recycling and being loved and accepted for who you are. The mum in the story finds all sorts of interesting, discarded items to bring home. She repurposes and recycles them, changing everything into something else. When her son Jake is worried she might want to change him too, the reassurance he gets at the end is very touching and heartwarming. I like the fact that the mum is in a wheelchair but it's not referred to. It's just a part of normal life. The illustrations are very lively, with lots of colour and detail.

Sweet
A lovely sweet story about a mum who loves to recycle and her son. Frankly, I found the text to be underwhelming and a bit boring but the beautiful images were worth the investment

Essential addition to any young child's (and library's) bookshelf
A lovely, deceptively simple story about a mum who will never throw anything away - least of all her son who is perfect just the way he is! The illustrations are beautiful and bustling - and the story wears it's themes of recycling and inclusion so lightly and delightfully.

A must-have book
I love this heartwarming picture book as it captures the beauty of the mother-child bond perfectly, along the way showing how value can be found in everything and everyone if you just know how to look.
