Superb game, but not for everyone
This was a game I had been interested in for some time, and finally got around to purchasing. And I'm not regretting that decision at all!I agree with the majority of people in the reviews section that it is definitely not for everyone. The learning curve is beyond steep, the tutorials are definitely lacking and the gameplay itself can be dull as dishwater if you're not interested in the micromanagement or depth of the medieval world. However, if you are prepared to put some hours in learning the game you will certainly be rewarded. The level of detail is incredible - every decision must be careful considered as it will often have far reaching consequences - sometimes ones you can't even predict at the time. Nobles under your control, as well as other characters are complex and intelligent - each with a motive and a goal. Some will turn out to be steadfast supporters while others constantly attempt to stab you in the back and steal your titles (including family members!). You need to plan ahead, remove those who threaten you and look to expand your authority and influence. All in all, the game is extremely rewarding and exciting, despite the lack of action, assuming you get into the 'role-play' mood and immerse yourself in the period and the characters. There is much I could say about this game, but I will stop there and instead suggest that you watch a few YouTube videos of the game before you commit to buying it. If it looks like its your cup of tea, then I highly recommend it! Just be prepared for a few attempts before you get to grips with the gameplay itself. The only other downside is the fact that it requires Steam - an absolute pet hate of mine, but nothing to worry about if you don't mind Steam!

historically accurate but too much micromanagement of the wrong things, and pretty much none of battles
This game is very well historically researched and extremely detailed, but the things you can do in detail include lots of things you'd rather not do, while when it comes to battles , sieges and assaults, where you would like control - and which should be the most exciting part of the game - you just get a list of numbers of troop types and see the numbers on each side go down. Apparently you're meant to be able to appoint commanders for the wings - though i've never managed to find out how - and you can appoint a marshall, though, again, how youMost of the game is spent arranging marriages and assigning titles and assigning guardians to educate children to try and make your own vassals not hate you. This is realistic enough but goes into far, far, far too much detail - not just marriages of your ruler or his heir but every noble and courtier in your kingdom.Absolutely nothing in the game is clear or obvious - you have to do a tutorial in order to work out which tiny buttons and menus to pick to do pretty much anything. The tutorials are (mostly) reasonably clear, though still with some bugs.Could have done without all the micro-management of every minor member of court and having a battle level where you go to the battle map to fight battles as in Total War games.Ok, this isn't meant to be the same kind of game as total war, fair enough, so that could have been simplified a bit compared to Total War, but having no battle level at all is a disappointment. That wouldn't be too bad if it was still a playable game like e.g Vikings on the Amiga decades ago was (battles in Crusader Kings II are like a slightly more detailed version of Vikings). Unfortunately playing the strategic level is mostly an ordeal for me.Clearly a lot of people like it and if you don't mind extremely complicated games that require a lot of learning to work out how to do things and which have massive levels of detail and only a strategic level, this might be for you, but it's not for me.

A typical Paradox game
Like other Paradox games [Europa Universalis I-III, Hearts of Iron I-III, Victoria etc. etc.] they are a joy to play with a bit of a learning curve, but at the same time infuriating! The AI cheats all the time and when you are at war, you ALWAYS have a revolt in a province + a murder plot, which can divert your attention from the job at hand. Also when you are at war, your ally calls for help in his/her war...very annoying!!! It is a complex game with just a little too much micro-management for my liking, so if you play it too fast, you can miss something important. It still gets 4 stars from me though.I'm glad I live in the present, as all this intrigue/assassination/plots etc. can be a bit of a headache/time consuming. I just want to go to work and come back home! lolThe other thing I don't like is that you have to activate it via Steam, Gamersgate etc. This is ok in some respects as you can play it offline if you want to, but you need to be connected every now and then [for updates not just for the game but for Steam too!] otherwise it won't let you play as it does not 'recognise' it on your pc. So what I normally do is go online before I go somewhere for a few days, then play it offline - good if you have no internet, or even at work etc. I know some people will say it is nothing to do with the game, BUT I hardly buy games anymore because of this and rather play my old games without the hassle. I know all about this piracy rubbish, but they have lost money too from people who hate this system! The game has Mods etc. but you have to join a forum to get most of them...I cannot be bothered as half the time it won't let me in. It does have a dedicated following with a 'Wiki' site for the game with good advice.Overall it is good to shape history your way over a period of 300 years or so and it has numerous add-ons so you can play different religions/empires/republics etc. Even though it is infuriating you still want to go back for more!

Security code 'already used'
When I inserted the cd and tried to register the game using the security code supplied with the cd, an on-screen message informed me that the code had already been used by someone else. I see this has happened to other people as well, so I guess it's a well-established scam. I'm told the answer is to download the game direct from the designer (in this case, Paradox) instead of ordering a cd, but I haven't tried this yet.

Comprato ma mai giocato
La confezione aveva con se il codice di registrazione per il gioco che quando inserisco per la installazione mi segnalava che il codice è gia stato utilizzato. Quindi prodotto praticamente INUTILE.

Me en-can-ta
Divertido, interesante, largo, rejugable. Paciencia, estrategia y... a tener hijos.
