But I knew I had to give it a try after months of 5 am wakings. My son was 2 when I purchased the clock for him. This particular one is quite affordable. It doesn't look as sleek or high-tech as some of the others offered, but it's fun and fits perfectly in a child's bedroom.At first, my son understood the concept but didn't really care what color the light was when he woke up. However, he did happen to wake up a few times after the ball turned green, and he seemed pretty excited about that. After a few weeks, he started adhering to the clock and only calling for us after the light turned green. Most of the time, it's within minutes after it turns, so it's possible he's awake and waiting for the light.I'm so surprised that it has worked this well, and I encourage all parents to give something like this a try if you are having issues with early wakeups. This product in particular is extremely user friendly, with the instructions printed on the actual product. My daughter is actually getting close to 5 years old now, so I know that I am a little late to the game for any real kind of sleep training, of course. However, she knows all about this type of clock and concept from some of her other friends whose parents use it with them. Clearly, this is easy for her to understand. The question is whether or not she will actually obey the rule of no getting up or calling out for mommy (or daddy....but always calls for mommy!!!) at the crazy early hour of 5:10 or 5:30 in the morning! She goes to bed too late, yet continues to often wake up way too early. I would celebrate every day if she could just stay in her bed until 6:30am, even if just resting or maybe even self entertaining with a book or her dolls. She is not so great at entertaining herself at all when she wakes up, so this is going to be a challenge for her (and new rules). Sometimes if I do not answer her when she calls out to me, she will fall back to sleep for about another hour or less. So, my goal here is that she will see that the dog’s light is still red, and then she will try her best to close her eyes and fall back off to sleep. That would be my perfect world! Guess we will put it to the test tonight! No matter what though, I will continue to maintain my five star review here, because I really like the features and user friendliness of this clock. I always like the fact that you can change the brightness of the red/green light ball, so that it does not have to keep your child up all night he with such a bright bulb. My daughter loves this. It’s pretty much our favorite thing in the world right now. I wasn’t even going to get this one but as I was browsing my daughter saw the puppy and if a puppy clock was what she wanted than by all means she could have it. For months she would wake me up at 5 something in the morning. She’d wake the baby up by loudly asking if he was awake yet. I was miserable and sleep deprived. I wish I got this for her sooner. She was so excited when it came in the mail and couldn’t wait to have it in her room. I set it so there is no alarm sound, the ball just turns green when it is okay to come out of her room. The first day she must have been watching intently because at exactly 7am she walked into my room so happy and proud of herself that she waited until the light turns green. But now there are mornings where I even have to wake her up because she sees that it’s red and just goes back to sleep. This really is an amazing product.
