Absolutely Wonderful!
The Golden Goal is the first book that I have read by this author and I am now so excited to go back and read or listen to other books that she has written! This story was, without a doubt, one of the best tales of unrequited love that I have read. The way Shaw had loved Sutton since they were children was so sweet. It made me feel bad for him as I realized all the times he had stepped in to be there for Shaw, but she had only seen him as someone who antagonized her.The tropes in this book are some of my favorites, including brother’s best friend and celebrity or sports romance. I have realized lately that I also am a big fan of those moments when an unrequited love is suddenly made known to the person who is clueless as to the other’s feelings. And the moment between Shaw and Sutton when this occurred was perfection. I listened to this part of the story three times and then went back and read it in the ebook, as well. That’s how much I loved the reveal! There is also an enemies to more vibe in this book. That is not usually a trope I consider a favorite, yet I loved it in this story! Again, Shaw’s devotion to Sutton persevered through all of the years that she considered him her enemy and I loved the moment when she realized all of the ways that Shaw had been there for her in the past. It was like her eyes were finally opened to who he really was.I listened to the audio version of this novel and it was wonderfully performed in dual narration. Both narrators did a fantastic job and I plan to buy my own copy of this audio book, as well as a print copy for my shelves.I received a complimentary copy of this audio book, however, I did purchase the ebook version. All opinions are my own.

Lighthearted and SWOONY!!!
Favorite Quote:“Man, I'm a sap for this woman. She tucks her hair behind her ear, and I look down to hide the lovestruck grin I'd bet is occupying my face. I might be a sap, but it's worth it. Sutton Jones is one of a kind, and I don't mind being a fool in love with her.”This is me, finally jumping in the Annah Conwell train! I cannot believe I waited this long to read one of her books.I was rooting for these two from chapter one!Shaw Daniels might just be the swooniest man I’ve ever read! 😍😍 When he takes care of her! 🫠🫠And Sutton! Girl, we all know you didn’t stand a chance. 🥰I’m super excited to get to more of Annah’s books soon!

for me
I absolutely loved Shaw. Def book boyfriend. I love how we was so in love with the Mc. I do think the ending was a little rushed but I loved it. I wish I could give this book a four cuz I loved the couple but there wasn’t much to the plot for me. Needed a little more oopmh but it was good. 3.5/5

lighthearted rom com
I truly enjoyed the book. It was light, fun and sweet. For those looking it is a clean read. Truly enjoyed it.Now for my one complaint… the timetable. She’s a physical Therapist who works for a NHL team but is 23. My sister is a PT and it takes more than a BS to be one. So, she was too young. Plus she wants to buy her own thing with hard work, but has a luxury car and high end purses and clothes. Again only 23.Then he got drafted from after graduating college and is 23. So this should be his first year maybe 2nd. But he’s been the star player for a time and is crazy rich from his time in the NHL. My guess is originally our characters were older and then later the age was adjusted but not the story. Not a big deal I guess. It just doesn’t add up right and it kinda bugged me.Now as characters they were great the right amount of teasing to be funny but not mean.

I have found a new auto read author!!!
First of all, I love Annah Conwell's fresh take on a sports romcom series! Instead of following different members from a single team, this series follows four professional athletes, all from different sports, who form a close friendship after being introduced by their shared sports agent. (Who also happens to be the best friend and the brother, respectively, of the MMC and FMC in this book.)The rivals to lovers storyline is so well done. I love that the characters, in hindsight, can see that they were always drawn to one another. They loved to go head to head due to their competitive natures, but the way in which they competed only pushed them both to excel. The witty banter and undeniable chemistry morphed right along with the storyline as they went from rivals to friends to more. I love that the author was able to create so much tension in this story while keeping the door firmly closed!I listened to the audiobook version of this story and it was fantastic! The narrators brought the story to life with their engaging delivery and spot on pacing. They also sounded age appropriate. I started the audiobook and didn't want to stop!If you enjoy clean sports romance, this book is not to be missed! This is the first Annah Conwell book I've read and it will not be my last. I am so excited to see what she does with the rest of this series!*Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

EVERYONE STOP AND READ THIS BOOK
This book is just perfection, the MMC & FMC have the best banter & chemistry, Sutton & Shaw will steal everyone’s hearts🥹🫶🏻Shaw… there are no words, SCRATCH THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS🫠🫠 THIS MAN, he’s one of my favorite book boyfriends ever, Annah has so many amazing characters but there’s just something about him that makes me melt…And Sutton was so relatable, her need to take care of herself to show everyone she can be strong yet learning that it’s ok to lean on someone, your person🥹Their journey & story will have you swooning, sobbing, laughing, & smiling at every turn. And THE LOVE CONFESSIONS… are some of the best I have ever read… if you love sports romance or any romance do yourself a favor and read this book… and then go read all of Annah’s other books😆

Super sweet romance!!
The Golden Goal is an absolute delight! Sutton, once a figure skater⛸️ turned physiotherapist, and Shaw, a professional hockey player 🏒and her brother's best friend, navigate their rivalry from high school into a sizzling encounter when Sutton joins the Rockets. Their banter is electric, and witty exchanges become their language of love. As we delve into Shaw's perspective, we discover he's head over heels for Sutton amid their fiery clashes.I devoured this book in a single sitting, and while the only drawback might be the somewhat rushed ending, I craved more of their honeymoon bliss❤️. Nevertheless, I adored their journey, the way their apparent animosity concealed a perfect match. A must-read for anyone craving a mix of passion, rivalry, and a touch of speedy romance!💜Rivals to lovers💜Witty banter💜Protective mmc

Excellent start to a new series
This is an excellent enemies to lovers read. Although to be fair Shaw has always been in love with Sutton. He’s just never been brave enough to tell her. Being best friends with her twin brother didn’t help either. And he may have helped her brother intimidate her boyfriends during high school. Not only that but they’ve always been able to bring out the competitive side of each other. This time, however is different. Sutton is starting a job as a physical therapist with NHL team Alabama Rockets - where Shaw is one of the star players.Honestly I could say so much about this book but I’d spoil it for you. Go and read it - it’s filled with funny scenes - a bet about a date she’s going on which Shaw predicts fully. Sweet scenes where he looks after her when she’s ill. Moving moments in the hallway during a charity ball. Swoony moments - dancing, chatting by her car, in the treatment room. I could go on!!The banter is brilliant and it’s fun meeting the other athletes who’ll make up the rest of the series, even when it’s just them playing an online game together. We also get an extra bonus epilogue from Miles whose story is next.Loved it all so much!! Annah is an extremely talented author who knows how to capture emotions well on the page and make you root completely for the characters. And their teams!
