"In Sew Lingerie, learn the foundations of DIY lingerie, swimwear, and activewear--from the history of lingerie, types of styles, and different fabrics and elastics, to determining your size and making your own garments. Transform your top drawer wit Review: Most patterns not for those with a large cup size - My husband bought this for me as a gift I requested. I knew the patterns would be PDF but was at least expecting to be able to remove layers on sizing. I was hoping even the bralettes would have proper cup sizing but oh was I wrong. Just cut and began to sew the Brooklyn bralette. I cut the 3XL cup and cut smaller band pieces to work for my under bust size. The cup would maybe work on a B cup despite the bust size stating the full bust is for between 104cm-111cm. It's typical of a pattern that takes a wider back into account but not the actual cup size. Worst of all there's only one bra pattern with actual cup sizing and even that looks ill fitting on the larger busted model in the book. The sizing is not actually inclusive at all and the concept of there being a 5XL is completely misleading. If you're someone with a larger than C cup chest I do not recommend this book for the bralettes. I'm usually a G in ready to wear but with my bust to under bust difference I just fall into the J for this book, which is only a 25.5cm difference and the largest cup. Guess I'll be making the bottoms as two out of the three do appear to have a nice fit. Review: Great for Beginning and Advanced Sewists - This is perhaps the most comprehensive sewing guide/book that I have come across for both lingerie and clothing. I have been a Maddie fan since the early days of the pandemic, so I may be biased but through her I have grown as a sewer in my journey in creating swimwear and lingerie. I’ve been sewing for close to 35 years, sitting at my grandmas side. This book is a great starting place and perfect for reference while sewing your garment. Makes sewing stretch materials seem like an easy to attack project and less scary. Plus, Maddie has many sewing videos on YouTube and Instagram which makes it easier to watch and learn what you should be doing. Pros Vocabulary with pictures and detailed definitions Detailed descriptions of every type of lingerie and a brief history of lingerie with images Incredibly detailed description of fabrics and notions to use Self reference page numbers throughout Approximately 10 brand new patterns from Madalynne Intimates Step by step guides for each pattern (so grateful for this, especially since if I have to stop sewing in the middle of a project I will forget where I left off) Color photos for step by step guides Easy access to sewing patterns- scan the code and print them out, I like this because it means I can tweak it as needed and reprint multiple times Hints and tips on how to get a better fit Image and detailed written guide on how to adjust patterns for fit Body positivity- this is the brand Size inclusive- I’m a short woman with a rectangle body, (just kidding, but for real) so seeing all these different models in different garments makes me feel like I can look beautiful too! Encourages you to make your own alterations to your garments as you like/need. Ie- want to have the frame be longer, make the adjustment on the pattern and go for it CONS Explanation of different types of breast placement or type doesn’t include images (I’m a visual learner and I’d need it as a reference) If you don’t have a kit or all the materials ready to go it would be challenging to gather materials from stores in person (but you can get everything online) Half the book (pg 10-76) is dedicated to terms, hints, adjustment info; other half is (pg 76-173) sewing guides Mastectomy Bra doesn’t appear to have a sewing guide in the book Bottom line is that this book will be on my shelf for years to come as a handy reference and a place to make lovely garments.

Bra
