A superb adventure in the last book in the Tamarind Trilogy
Wow - the description and language used paints amazing pictures throughout this fantastic adventure - this time seeing a Penny take the leading role. Sad to say goodbye to such entertaining reads.Highly recommend.

Best book I've read in ages!
Wow! So many books aimed at age 9+ have themes and topics not entirely suitable at times in my opinion, so I pre-read things a lot before my child does. Many recently written books aimed at this age range are sadly predictable in plot and/or not always well written, although children seem to enjoy them however. This book stands head and shoulders above most books aimed at this age group (9-12 approx). The Great Wave of Tamarind was really enjoyable - it has captivating, realistic characters, a fabulous adventure and mission for the main character Penny, and really imaginative settings that were so well described I felt I was actually there on Tamarind (which was especially good given it was frosty outside and the book describes lush tropical jungles). It wasn't until I looked the book up on Amazon (we borrowed it from the library) that I realised it was no. 3 of a series. I'll definitely be buying the first two for Christmas!

The 3rd in the trilogy certainly does not disappoint!
The kids really enjoyed the first two books in the series and I have enjoyed reading to them. (One of the advantages of having children is enjoying good books that you would not have otherwise found time for!) Often, with a good series you wonder if subsequent books will live up to the standard set by the first book(s), or if it will be more of the same, or worse, try outdo the others and lose the plot completely. However, with this one, I'm glad to say the magic continues - at least as far as we've read, a we're about a third of the way through. Buy it!
