I keep having to reinstall the driver and it prints incredibly slowly or not at all. Beyond frustrated with this and it wasn't cheap.

Super easy wifi setup. Some shipping damage and Toner was dried out and had to purchase new cartridges and repair physical damage but but now is operating properly

I bought this printer at an office depot a couple of years ago and since then Brother has discontinued this printer for being such a poorly designed product. This printer clearly did not go through basic QA testing.This printer goes into a deep sleep mode after being turned on for just a minute or so. There is no documentation that I can find to describe how to modify the deep sleep mode or disable it. When the printer goes into deep sleep mode it disables the network connection which causes other computers on the network to think the printer is completely offline. I find myself constantly having to print test pages from the printer before even attempting to print something from my computer just to make sure its connected to the network. I also find myself having to reinstall the dang thing frequently because of dropped connections.A print speed of 23ppm is the rosiest estimate ever. You might be able to get 23ppm if you're printing in b&w and only one print job. Keep in mind that you'll have to spent several minutes ensuring the printer is online and your computer still recognizes it as the same printer. I hate this printer and whenever the toner runs out I will buy another printer. I am considering not ever purchasing brother products in the future because of the environmental impact crap products like this have on electronics waste.

I've had my 3170 for about 3 years. I've replaced the cartridges maybe 3 times. It was inexpensive to purchase and inexpensive to supply toner. This thing has been a workhorse since the day I bought it. I noticed two other reviews complaining about the driver installation. I've never had an issue. Running under Windows 10, iOS 10, and Linux, I've only had beautiful prints and a worry-free device.

Constant errors that have to be cleared, and this printer is SLOW!

Printer prints OK. However, driver continues to need to be reinstalled. It also seems to have difficulty sustaining WiFi connection, especially when the internet goes on the fritz.
