I was really impressed with the quality of this excellent product! I ended up returning it because it wasn't a good match for my specific situation given the complexity of installing the upper piece of the hinge. (I am dealing with concrete basement walls) To install it, you will need to make some pretty deep and specific routes to recess the upper mechanism while still having some material for the plate to screw into. If I were to use this hinge, I would make a template first on some scrap material.

Used this for a bookshelf door under my stairs. This was significantly cheaper than some of the other heavy duty shelf hinges. I took a chance because other reviews were decent, and I figured I could change it out later if I needed to. Installation is not any harder than any other custom woodworking project, but it could be difficult if you're less experienced. It takes a lot of patience and measuring. It seems to hold the bookshelf door pretty well so far. Time will tell if there's any wear or sagging down the road. To me it was worth the savings of $30-40 vs. $150.

Do NOT buy this hinge. The weight is supposedly rated to hold 170lbs, but it doesn't even hold a 100lb door. Absolute garbage. The instructions are useless; I literally had to find another seller selling a similar pivot hinge just to find the correct measurements. Then once you get the parts in the door and the doorway, you have to balance a tiny metal ball on the L bracket, and while balancing a 100lb door try not to knock the ball off while putting the door on top of it. Then once you finally get the bottom part on, you start working on the top, and once you get that in, the part that goes in the top of the doorway breaks; because you can no longer twist the screw to retract the pin holding the door, the door is basically being held up by hopes and dreams. Absolutely unsafe if the door weighs 100+ lbs. Do yourself a favor and spend the money to get a more reliable hinge.

They are a little tricky to install as you need to carve out the top of the door frame.

This hinge works great for my purpose, seems well built. If you don’t have a good understanding of fitting doors this may be a tough install for some as no instructions came with it.

Purchased 2 sets of the offset hinges & used on large 50lb doors. They work great. BUT...On both sets the predrilled screw holes on pieces 1 & 2 for adjusting door do not lineup . When letting out the screw it actually pushed the two top pieces apart. Had to bore out the screw hole in that super hard metal. Not an easy task. PLUS... If you're not a handy person, the instructions are not user friendly.
