The Vocabulary Builder Workbook: Simple Lessons and Activities to Teach Yourself Over 1,400 Must-Know Words

Value for money, great organized. Must have this vocabulary study book .I think it is great for students start from 4th grade.

Good for school

I picked this up form my homeschooled high school student to start preparing for the ACT/SAT in a few years. The book is broken down into many themes, such as prefixes, language origins, common usages, etc. Each lesson is one page and holds around 7-8 words, which can be categorized under the theme. The word is presented along with it's function (noun, adjective, and so forth), and then, the pronunciation is given. A short definition of one line is followed by an example sentence, where the word is used. Then, a sentence or two with interesting tidbits about the origin, related history, or other interesting information surrounding the word is shared. At the end of the page, is an activity box, where the words are quickly revisited in a small exercise. The answers to the exercises are found at the end of the book, along with an index, detailing where each word can be found in the book.It's simple, direct and does a decent job at presenting the words. The simple definition along with interesting facts, do help to remember the word. And the following exercise, although short, is nice. We add quizzes at the end of the week and try to use the words in 'daily use' as well. But we do appreciate this set-up since it adds just a tad bit of extras without steering away from the basics.

I really like this book.. but it's above 6th grade level.. so I will put it away for High School

Este libro, 'The Vocabulary Builder Workbook', ha sido una herramienta fantástica para expandir mi vocabulario de una manera estructurada y menos tediosa que las simples flashcards. Me ha gustado mucho cómo aborda el aprendizaje de más de 1,400 palabras esenciales a través de lecciones temáticas y actividades bien diseñadas, lo que realmente ayuda a que los conceptos se queden grabados. No es solo memorización; el enfoque en raíces y asociaciones de palabras me ha permitido entender mejor cómo se construyen las palabras. Es ideal para mis momentos de estudio, ya sea en casa o en algún descanso entre mis actividades. Para cualquier hombre que, como yo, busca mejorar su inglés de manera significativa y consolidar un vocabulario sólido, este workbook es altamente recomendable

I love it for what I see it is a very complete book and more for me that I am learning the language.

Not quite what I was expecting. There’s a lot of words in here that are dead that nobody use or you’ll never even heard of and the workbook sections are kind of lame. I don’t feel like I’m actually learning or gathering real information from this book would not give to somebody that’s trying to actually learn this might be better for somebody that’s already advanced in reading and writing and comprehension
