Salt Your Way to Health, 2nd Edition [David Brownstein, MD] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Salt Your Way to Health, 2nd Edition Review: Changed my health - I love this book. It is easy and quick to read for the lay person and gets the point across without being too scientific. I keep buying more and giving them to people who have bought into the lie that salt is evil and who follow their ignorant providers' advice to cut out salt. I am a nurse of 43 years who was traditionally trained and am turning around all the damage done by the allopathic medical community in my own life and that of my family. This book is a great way to get people's attention and on the journey to true physiologic health. Tip: I found small containers of unrefined, REAL salt (usually next to cash registers in health food-type stores, and put them in each car for when I have to eat out at restaurants; I don't have to eat as much of the poison refined salt (can't do much about the salt use to cook with). Review: Love this book - I am a qualified Nutritionist and Naturopath and I appreciate reading books that are rich in meaningful information, scientifically credible, and at the same time being easy-to-read so I can recommend them to patients where applicable. This book certainly qualifies on all those counts. I think the other reviewers have covered this book nicely. I read this book after reading "Salt" by Mark Kurlansky which is about the history of salt over the centuries. The 'bottom line' is that many people are not getting enough salt causing dehydration, and this insufficiency of water in the human body has all sort of consequences such as thicker blood (ie blood with high viscosity)and reduced metabolic function caused by low body fluid levels. This can have all sorts of consequences such as fatigue, increased colds and flu's, and hundreds of other ailments. The old line that salt is high in sodium and sodium increases blood pressure is a very simplistic explanation and one wonders how the population was ever duped into believing it. There are three forms of salt. Firstly, there is pure 100% sea salt which is 85% sodium chloride and 15% other minerals, and this is the salt that you can consume with confidence. Secondly, there is white sea salt which is only the sodium chloride part with a tiny bit of trace minerals remaining and the rest of the minerals have been removed and this byproduct rich in minerals is sold separately under the name of Magnesium Oil, Nigari, or the original 'Old English' word Bitterns. The 3rd form of salt is the cheap one we buy in supermarkets that is 100% Sodium Chloride with some added additives to make it free-flowing plus some iodine. To understand the health benefits of salt, you should also understand what Magnesium Oil is, because its the valubale part of ocean salt that gets removed. I have written a short paper that may interest readers that can be found in my Health Folder https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4XGKNybHkRkb1lZT2N3VTgyXzQ&usp=sharing

Excellent book for the scientific truth
This is an excellent book that breaks through the unscientific narratives. Highly suggest it.

Very important information.
We need to consume what the earth provides and in the form it is provided as healing can then occur. This doctor has profound information and case histories.

The right kind of salt is essential
This book explains how dangerous regular table salt is because all the good stuff has been refined away. Due to the information in this little book I now use unrefined salt on everything that I cook or eat out at restaurants. It is very educational and scientific. This is a great book for people who want to make a small step toward good health.

deeply grateful
I tell all my friends about this book as it has changed my life for the better. Taking sea salt every day (1 teaspoon diluted in a cup of water) has cured my adrenal fatigue in less than 6 weeks, which is the optimum time. If you are interested, it can take 6 weeks to a year to recover from adrenal insufficiency. Mine was really bad before I took sea salt, and I used to shake in the mornings. I had a blood cortisol test and it was off the scale in terms of being so low. I had adrenal insufficiency about 15 years ago and it took me three long months to recover then, it was awful. So when I got it again, I knew I had to act swiftly. The other thing taking sea salt has done is mineralise my bones. I take Celtic Salt Mineral blend every day and my tensile strength has increased no end. I also take transdermal magnesium and Vitamin D3 (high doses), Vitamin K2 (Green Pastures X-Factor) and Sea Kelp by Solgar (best one I've found). I saw a friend recently whom I hadn't seen for about 2 years. She was so surprised at the improvement in my health, she said "whatever you're taking, please list it out because I want to take them too". I told her the books I'd read to put my health back on track: This one, plus The Calcium Lie, Calcification, Miraculous Results of High Doses of Vitamin D3, Transdermal Magnesium oil, Could it be B12 and various other anti-cancer websites etc. She asked me how I could manage to read so many in such a short space of time, I said I put that down to addressing Choline deficiency and combatting Glycation generally, she looked dazed - lol! Oh, and the other thing that Sea Salt cured was my increasing Acid Reflux. That is a thing of the past now, what a relief that is for my whole family. Basically once I noticed improvements in my health, I decided to tackle all aspects of metabolism. I am scared of getting metabolic syndrome so I've decided to put my health in order, before I become a medical emergency. The last highly beneficial thing I did for my health was to conduct a Gallbladder/Liver flush, as I'm really interested in tackling cholesterol now. Since doing the flush I've managed to halve my dose of progesterone cream dose, as my symptoms and mood have improved. I think the amazing liver flush procedure has improved my complexion and energy levels no end, wish I'd done it years ago. The book on it by Moritz is available on Kindle. The other thing I've tried now is Apple Cider Vinegar. I was doing really well with that but had to temporarily stop because it melted my temporary filling on this (horrible) tooth that is having so much work on it this Autumn. Can't wait till that's all finished so I can go back to lovely Apple Cider Vinegar, mixed with honey and added to a glass of cold water - such a refreshing way to start the day! I feel like the inside of my body is like a huge house I have to clean out and tidy up, to get ready for the next 30 years, if you know what I mean! Believe in health, it is wonderful !

This is a quite short book and a book full of annoying repetitions but still worth reading. Is Dr. Brownstein right, are those who tell us about the dangers of salt right? Is unrefined salt much better than sea salt? Difficult to know because everybody tries to advocate their ideas as well as they can! Still, Dr. Brownstein talks greatly from the experience he had in his surgery, and that is maybe more valuable than those who did research using hundreds of thousands of people, more often than not unreliable research! At least this doctor seems to care about his patients and did all he could to help them. I do have a few questions though, therefore the 3 stars! From other books I have read the relation between cholesterol and heart disease hasn't been proved yet and lowering cholesterol is not always a good thing, take the elderly for example, who already lose cholesterol in the brain due to the age so if they don't get enough they have a lot more change to get dementia. It is also a given fact that the women who live the longest are often the ones with the highest cholesterol. There also seems to be a link between low cholesterol and risk of cancer, for example. On page 67 there is a sentence I don't understand and which seems rather dangerous to me: "... by limiting their sodium intake to 3-7g (approximately 1.5-7 teaspoons) of salt per day". 7 teaspoons of salt a day is an awful lot of salt, I would say...... I think that one teaspoon is about 2.5g so 7 teaspoons would be 17.5g, maybe a dangerous amount? And 7g can't be 7 teaspoons. Dr. Brownstein should have had a proofreader! On page 77 I found this discrepancy: "The only salt Jerry received was the refined salt in food". Then his mother goes on to say that she never salted Jerry's food because she thought that is was healthier to go without it. Maybe Jerry was eating a lot of processed food? But that was probably not the case as his mother seemed to be quite careful with what he ate..... Also to say that high blood pressure is associated with cardiovascular problems doesn't seem to be accurate. A lot of people who have heart attacks, for example, don't seem to suffer at all from high blood pressure. But then... how high is high blood pressure exactly? Over the years the limits have been set lower and lower, maybe in order to sell more blood pressure medication? Bromine seems to be quite a toxic substance, the fact that it is added quite often to our food and medication worried me! I have had a lot of cherry angiomas from quite an early age and from what I have heard they can be cause of bromine intoxication. The chapter on bromine and bromide is quite interesting as are the recipes for a salt bath, a spray for a runny nose, for insomnia, etc. As far as the repetitions go who knows... maybe authors write a script which is then developed into a book and if the information is not enough to fill a certain amount of pages the editor then repeats things over and over again, I don't know! Many books are now written in this way.... they are more like articles which become books in order to sell, even if the information is not nearly enough to fill one! I would say.... read and research. So far I have read other books that advocate the use of salt, as I have read several books that advocate the use of fat, the importance of sunshine and much more! Even if you can't know for sure who tells the truth you have to try to make up your mind and maybe the answer is to do everything in moderation!

Das Büchlein ist insgesamt interessant, wiewohl die wesentlichen Aspekte nicht ausführlich genug beschrieben sind. Der wissenschaftliche background ist praktisch nicht dargestellt. Am Ende bleiben einige Fragen offen.
