However, when I received them and arranged the candles the height was perfect. They are ornate but not OTT, quite sturdy and fairly heavy and the brass is a brushed finish which is quite lovely - not shiny like others I have seen. A normal sized household candle for everyday use fits them perfectly as well as more ornate candles for dinner.
